GAME RECAP

Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 29 points and rookie Antonio Daniels added a career-high 18 and 10 assists as the Vancouver Grizzlies overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers, 119-113.

The Grizzlies, who set a franchise record for points scored at home, defeated the Clippers for only the second time in nine all-time meetings.

Vancouver trailed by 10 entering the final quarter and were behind, 96-85, with 9:30 to play before going on a 22-5 run over the next seven minutes to take a six-point lead with just under three minutes remaining.

Rodney Rogers scored 20 of his 26 points in the first half to lead the Clippers, who surrendered more than 110 points for the fourth time this season.

Abdur-Raheem's three-point play with 3:44 remaining, gave the Grizzlies the lead for good at 103-101. Blue Edwards and Daniels sank four free throws, capping Vancouver's run and extending the lead to 107-101 with 2:29 to go. Abdur-Raheem connected on 12-of-21 field goal attempts.

James Robinson hit a pair of free throws with 2:14 left to bring the Clippers within four, but Edwards scored six of Vancouver's next seven points for a 114-107 lead with under 30 seconds left.

Edwards scored 17 points off the bench for the Grizzlies, who shot 53 percent (44-for-82) from the field. Vancouver also connected on 30-of-47 free throw attempts.

The Grizzlies attempted an NBA-record 31 free throws in the final quarter. The 31 attempts were the most in one quarter since the Dallas Mavericks attempted 30 against the Toronto Raptors last season.

Los Angeles held a 79-76 edge wth 2:50 left in the third quarter before closing on a 13-6 run for a 92-82 lead after three quarters. Eric Piatkowski scored six points and Lorenzen Wright had five in the burst.

Otis Thorpe grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds for Vancouver, which outboarded the Clippers, 57-40.

"It was another rebound game where we won by 17," said Vancouver coach Brian Hill. "We also shot 26 more free throws. The rebounds, free throws and assist to turnover margin is the three things I look for going into a game."

Rogers, who connected on 12-of-21 shots, scored 10 points in each of the first two quarters, helping the Clippers to a 62-52 halftime lead.

"It should've been our game," Rogers said. "But at this level of play even if you're up by 10 with that much time left, the ballgame is sill up in the air. You have to find a way to keep the team out."

Los Angeles shot 47 percent (43-for-92) from the field.
