GAME RECAP

Mitch Richmond, playing amid persistent trade rumors, continued to showcase his talents, scoring 25 points in three quarters as the Sacramento Kings posted their biggest victory in more than 10 months, 115-89 over the Orlando Magic.

Richmond, who is being shopped around the league, hit four three-pointers while leading the Kings to their most lopsided victory since a 126-96 win over the Boston Celtics on December 28th.

"They tried to press early on offensively, but they were stagnant," said Richmond. "Hopefully this is a confidence builder. We tried to mix up our offense tonight, and got some easy baskets."

Sacramento broke the game open with a 14-2 run to start the second quarter. Leading 26-23 after the first period, the Kings got rolling with Corliss Williamson's basket to open the second.

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, who scored 20 points on 10-of-14 shooting off the bench, capped the run with eight minutes left as the Kings notched their second victory of the season and first road win.

"I'm at my best when I'm running," said Abdul-Rauf. "We weren't confident all the time running. We were able to cause their bigger guys to get out of position. I thought they were going to push it in the second half, but it never happened."

Sacramento also posted its most one-sided road victory since trouncing the Los Angeles Clippers, 117-85, on April 11th, 1995. The Kings have won two of their last three games after dropping four straight to start the season.

Derek Strong had 17 points and Rony Seikaly added 13 for the Magic, who suffered their worst home loss since an 84-57 rout at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 4th.

The Magic got as close as 59-48 on Mark Price's bucket to open the third quarter, but Sacramento would outscore Orlando by a 29-15 margin and take an 87-64 lead into the final quarter.

"I feel that we came in here with a really good game plan," said Penny Hardaway, who was held to 10 points for Orlando. "Coach (Chuck) Daly prepares us to go out there and play. And then when we go out there, we're just not doing it."

Billy Owens had 15 points and reserve Lawrence Funderburke added 12 points. Olden Polynice, who left briefly after suffering an eye injury in the second quarter, returned to finish with 11.

Sacramento, which led by as many as 32, hit 53 percent (46-of-86) of its shots from the field, including 6-of-12 from behind the arc.
