GAME RECAP

Larry Johnson scored 27 points and Chris Dudley added 10 and 11 rebounds as the New York Knicks stayed perfect against the Toronto Raptors with a 93-70 rout.

The Knicks improved to 8-0 all-time against the struggling Raptors, who suffered their fourth straight loss. Toronto's lone victory this season came over winless Golden State.

Johnson scored 16 points in the first half, helping the Knicks to a 50-35 halftime lead. Patrick Ewing added eight of his 17 points during a 12-2 third-quarter run, capping it with a layup to give New York a 62-41 advantage with 5:50 left.

"We jumped on them, we knew what they were capable of doing," said Ewing. "It's all about winning games. We're only going to get better."

Leading 26-19 after one quarter, New York took command by scoring seven of the first eight points in the second for a 33-20 edge.

The Knicks, who have blown fourth-quarter leads in three games this season, extended the margin to 24 points in the final period on Johnson's free throw with 4 1/2 minutes to go. Ewing added eight rebounds and Allan Houston had 12 points.

"Tonight was good for us," Houston said. "We sustained energy and efficiency on offense. That's what makes us a great team. Everybody is aware of the fourth quarter. We have a way of stepping it up, the key is whether we do it or not."

Former Knick John Wallace scored 13 points and Walt Williams chipped in with 11 for Toronto, which scored just 35 points in the second half and shot 33 percent (27-of-81) from the field overall.

"It's a long season and there's a lot of basketball to be played," said Raptors coach Darrell Walker. "The effort was there, but the energy wasn't. We didn't shoot the ball well. We've got to shoot the ball better."

New York's Chris Childs, who shares time with starter Charlie Ward at point guard, earned a double-technical foul and was ejected 3:43 into the second period. Ward picked up the slack, handing off nine assists in 38 minutes.

The Knicks, who also held the Celtics to 70 points earlier this season, are limiting opponents to just 83.6 points per game. New York did not allow the Raptors to score more than 19 points in any quarter, holding them to as few as 16 in the second.

John Starks scored 11 points off the bench for New York, which improved to 3-2 on the road. Toronto was held to 70 or less points just twice last season.
