GAME RECAP

Corliss Williamson scored a season-high 20 points and Lawrence Funderburke added a season-high 18 as the Sacramento Kings handed the Dallas Mavericks their seventh straight loss, 102-95.

Williamson and Funderburke each scored six points in the fourth quarter, helping Sacramento to its second victory in five home games this season. Mitch Richmond finished with 17 points -- the first time in the Kings' 10 games that he has not been their leading scorer.

Dennis Scott and A.C. Green scored 20 points apiece for the Mavericks, who have gone nowhere since a 3-0 start. Green played in his 906th straight game, tying Randy Smith's NBA record for consecutive games played. He will break the mark at home Thursday against Golden State.

"For me, the thing that is most important is getting out and trying to win," Green said. "I've always took it one game at a time and that's how I got to this point. Comtemplating a day off from a game is really not in my vocabulary. My motivation has always been to go out there and play."

The Kings took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter before getting a spark from rookie Tariq Abdul-Wahad, who scored all five of his points in the early stages of the period. After a free throw by Funderburke, Adbul-Wahad made a short bucket for an 80-75 lead.

After a three-pointer by Scott made it a two-point game, Abdul-Wahad hit a 14-foot jumper with 9:41 to play and then hit 1-of-2 from the line for an 83-78 advantage. Williamson and Anthony Johnson followed with layups to provide the Kings with an 87-78 lead with 8:39 remaining.

"This was a game that I was concerned about because our thinking probably could have been 'they played a game last night, they lost by 40 points or whatever (actually 45), and we'll just come out and get a win,'" Sacramento coach Eddie Jordan coach. "I was kind of worried that was going to be our attitude and so we talked about that."

The Mavericks stayed close behind Scott, who scored 14 points in the final period. His three-pointer brought Dallas within 92-86 with 3:49 left and Dallas eventually got within 96-92 on Khalid Reeves' layup with 1:30 to go. But Johnson and Funderburke each hit a pair of free throws to stretch the lead to 100-92 with 49 seconds to play.

"Tonight we just came out, took the initiative and I think they may have been tired from their last game," Funderburke said. "We really executed our plan well down the stretch which was really key."

Johnson finished with 12 points and a season-high 10 assists for the Kings, who shot 49 percent (45-for-92) from the field. Olden Polynice contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds, helping Sacramento to a 44-37 rebounding advantage.

Shawn Bradley scored 18 points and Michael Finley 14 for the Mavericks, who shot 43 percent (37-of-86).
