GAME RECAPTom Gugliotta had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Chris Carr added 17 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves ended a five-game losing streak with a 106-87 romp over the Vancouver Grizzlies.
Stephon Marbury totaled 14 points, 11 assists and a career-high eight rebounds for Minnesota, which also stopped a four-game skid at home. Kevin Garnett had 13 points, 10 boards, seven assists and four blocked shots as the Timberwolves defeated the Grizzlies for the sixth straight time.
Rookie Antonio Daniels had 16 points and seven assists and Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 15 and six rebounds for the Grizzlies, who fell to 0-4 on their current five-game road trip.
Marbury made a pair of baskets before the Grizzlies finally scored when Daniels hit a three-pointer to cut Minnesota's lead to 8-3 with 8:39 left in the opening quarter.
Vancouver closed within 10-7 on Abdur-Rahim's dunk with 7:12 remaining in the period. But Gugliotta scored six points in a 16-2 run, capped by a running jumper by Cherokee Parks that made it 26-9 with 1:59 left.
The Grizzlies shot just 21 percent (4-for-19) from the field in the period while Minnesota made 58 percent (14-of-24).
The Wolves continued to build their lead in the second period. Garnett's 17-footer capped a 15-2 burst that opened a 43-12 bulge with 7:45 left in the first half. Tom Hammonds, who had five points in six minutes, made a driving layup to give the Wolves their biggest lead at 56-22 with 3:23 left in the half.
Sam Mack's 20-footer capped a 10-0 surge and cut Minnesota's lead to 66-44 with 6:01 left in the third period. The closest the Grizzlies came thereafter was 78-63 when Blue Edwards hit an 11-footer with 9:41 to go. But Parks, who had 14 points and six boards off the bench, answered with a layup.
