GAME RECAP

Tim Hardaway scored 22 points and dished out a season-high 13 assists as the Atlantic Division-leading Miami Heat broke a two-game losing skid with a 91-84 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

In his second game since returning from a knee injury, Alonzo Mourning added 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Miami.

Theo Ratliff and Aaron McKie scored 17 and four points, respectively, in their first game for Philadelphia. On Thursday, the Sixers dealt guard Jerry Stackhouse and center Eric Montross to the Detroit Pistons for McKie, who played his college ball at nearby Temple, and Ratliff.

Tim Thomas added 17 points for the 76ers, who shot a poor 34 percent (27-of-79) from the field.

Philadelphia did welcome forward Derrick Coleman back into the lineup. Coleman, who had six points and eight rebounds, was cleared to play earlier this week following treatment for an irregular heartbeat.

Philadelphia lost its fourth straight game and fell for the sixth time in seven outings.

The 76ers trailed 69-64 after three quarters, but cut the deficit to one, 80-79, on McKie's 21-foot jumper with just over four minutes remaining. But the Heat immediately responded with a quick 7-0 spurt. Hardaway started the run with a jumper and after Mourning was left all alone underneath the basket for a dunk, Dan Majerle nailed a three-pointer for an 87-79 advantage.

Clarence Weatherspoon and Ratliff both hit two foul shots apiece down the stretch but the Heat wraped up the victory with a jumper by Hardaway and two free throws by Voshon Lenard.

Miami jumed out to an early 26-15 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game but the 76ers were able to fight right back with a 9-0 outburst. Allen Iverson, who scored 12 points but connected on just 4-of-12 field goals, had five points during the run. Two free throws by Jimmy Jackson brought Philadelphia within 26-24 at the end of the quarter.

Philadelphia trailed 51-45 at halftime, but opened the third quarter by missing its first seven shots. Not until a Coleman dunk with 8:51 did the 76ers get on the scoreboard, at which time they trailed by 11, 58-47.

The Heat appeared to take control late in the third period when they built a 68-54 advantage, but Philadelphia responded with 10 straight points. Ratliff, who pulled down seven rebounds in 21 minutes, had six of the 10 points.

Miami held a slight rebounding advantage, 47-44, but was victimized by 14 turnovers. The Heat connected on 34-of-73 field goals (47 percent).
