GAME RECAP

Lorenzen Wright scored 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds and the Los Angeles Clippers used a 20-2 run to open the second half en route to their second straight victory, 94-79 over the Golden State Warriors.

Los Angeles defeated Denver on Saturday and has posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The last time the Clippers won consecutive games was April 12th-14th. It also was also Los Angeles' second straight win over the Warriors, following an 82-78 triumph on December 18th.

"Well, everybody that watched the first half, it was very obvious we were getting killed on second shots. They were getting second and third shots and we were committing fouls," said Los Angeles coach Bill Fitch. "After the half the guys made a good adjustment. I thought we did a good job on the boards. In the third quarter they were only getting one shot, and when you get only one shot, it changes the tempo of the game. What we were able to do on the boards was the difference in the the third quarter."

Wright, who has grabbed 13 or more rebounds in eight consecutive games, scored eight of his 20 points during the 20-2 spurt to open the second half. It turned a two-point halftime lead into a 65-45 bulge with 6:15 remaining in the third quarter.

Wright started the outburst with a layup at the 11:20 mark and Brent Barry finished it off with a layup.

"I am just trying to work as hard as I can on rebounding. Everything else just falls into place," said Wright. "Rebounding is the most important thing. I am going after the offensive rebounds and the points are coming with it. I think tonight was the best game we have played this season. We passed the ball well and we were all playing together."

Golden State chipped away at the 20-point deficit but got no closer than 77-66 on Adonal Foyle's layup with 7:41 to play in the game.

Although the Clippers were outrebounded 50-48, they outshot Golden State 47 percent (39-for-83) to 36 percent (29-for-81). The Clippers shot 6-for-18 from three-point range while the Warriors only hit 1-of-7 from behind the arc.

Lamond Murray added 16 points, Darrick Martin had 14 and Barry 12 and nine assists for the Clippers.

Tony Delk scored 17 points and Donyell Marshall had 15 and 16 rebounds for the Warriors, who suffered their third straight loss.

"We didn't play well at the defensive end and we did not shoot the ball well the entire night," said Golden State coach P.J. Carlesimo. "A couple of key guys just had tough nights. We turned the ball over and just got outplayed. We came out in the second half and did not get any stops."

After Marshall's follow gave Golden State an 8-7 lead at the 7:27 mark of the first quarter, Los Angeles responded with a 17-9 run to close the quarter. Wright contributed six of those points and Barry four.

The Clippers' lead grew to 10 points at 27-17 less than a minute into the second quarter after Eric Piatkowski drained a three-pointer. Midway through the quarter Golden State tied the game at 34-34, off Felton Spencer's layup.

Los Angeles outscored Golden State the rest of the half to take a 45-43 lead at the break.

"We did not shoot the ball well at all, but we were still in the game at halftime," Golden State guard Bimbo Coles said. "Then we do the same thing that we've been doing the last three or four games -- come out very slowly to start the second half. We did not respond. They just did what they wanted to do."
