GAME RECAP

Ervin Johnson recorded season highs of 20 points and 21 rebounds and Glenn Robinson scored 33 points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 110-95 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

"I thank God I was able to get a good start and the team won," said Johnson. "That's more important than getting 20-20 to me. I hadn't been rebounding well this season, but I knew it was going to come around eventually."

The Bucks took the lead early and for good with a 13-0 run. Trailing by three points with nine minutes left in the opening quarter, Milwaukee scored 13 straight points to take a 17-7 lead on a tip-in by Johnson with 5:54 to go.

Robinson, who had 19 points at the half, scored six in the surge and Ray Allen added five of his 21 for the Bucks, who won for the fourth time in five home games. Robinson shot 14-of-23 from the field in posting his third game this month of 30 points or more.

"A good overall game," assessed Robinson. "My shot felt great and I got good looks tonight. "We're at home again Wednesday (against Golden State) and that will be a good chance to make it three in a row."

Johnson fell one point shy of his career high, posted on February 14th, 1996 against Minnesota while with the Denver Nuggets. He led Milwaukee to a 52-37 edge on the backboards in the absence of leading rebounder Tyrone Hill, who missed the game with a strained ligament.

The Bucks built a 62-50 cushion at the break, but the Clippers chipped away and got as close as 72-65 on Rodney Rogers' lay-in with 6:17 to go in the third period.

The Bucks answered with a 10-1 run to regain a double-digit lead. After Allen hit a short jumper, Rogers hit a free throw for Los Angeles. But consecutive three-point plays by Allen and Michael Curry gave the Bucks a 82-66 bulge with 3:10 remaining.

"They got off to a good start tonight," Rogers said. "Every time we cut it down they'd seem to come back at us. We just couldn't seem to catch up."

Armon Gilliam had 15 points and Terrell Brandon contributed nine and 11 assists for Milwaukee, which sank 48 percent (47-of-97) from the floor and 82 percent (14-of-17) from the line.

Lamond Murray netted 20 points and 10 rebounds and Rogers added 19 for the Clippers, who fell to 0-13 against Eastern Conference foes. Los Angeles has lost nine of its last 10 road games.

Rookie Maurice Taylor continued his impressive play off the bench with 19 points for the Clippers, who shot 43 percent (33-of-76) from the floor, including 3-of-14 from three-point range.

The Bucks won for the sixth straight time when holding their opponent to less than 100 points.
