GAME RECAP

Karl Malone scored 27 points and the Utah Jazz breezed to their seventh straight home win, 98-85 over the Golden State Warriors, who suffered their 12th straight loss.

Shandon Anderson chipped in with 12 points for Utah, which has won 10 of its last 11 games and has not lost at home since December 27th against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Jazz also improved to 18-3 at the Delta Center.

Joe Smith scored 16 points and Tony Delk contributed 15 for the Warriors, who are in the midst of their worst skid since dropping 16 straight from December 29th, 1984-January 31st, 1985.

"The losing streak is frustrating but we can get over it," said Warriors forward Donyell Marshall, who scored 13 points. "Right now we've got to play hard and get through it, that's all we can do."

The Jazz, who never trailed, took a 29-21 lead after one quarter behind 11 points from the reigning MVP Malone. Greg Ostertag also scored eight of his 10 points in the opening 12 minutes.

"We did a good job of getting the ball to Karl when he was open," Anderson said. "Any time we can get him the ball when he's in position, he can score the basket and he was able to get in position a lot tonight."

After Erick Dampier's layup to start the second quarter narrowed Utah's lead to six, the Jazz went on a 10-2 spurt, capped by Anderson's tip-in for a 39-25 lead with 8:01 to go. The Jazz extended the lead to 51-38 at the break.

Utah scored the first six points of the third quarter for a 57-38 before taking its biggest lead of the contest at 74-51 on Malone's free throw with 3:14 left in the quarter. The closest the Warriors got the rest of the way was the final margin.

"I thought we played hard and aggressive, but they opened it up in the third quarter and we really couldn't get back in it," Smith said.

The Jazz shot 48 percent (39-of-81) from the floor, while limiting Golden State to 42 percent (35-of-84). Utah also held a 52-38 rebounding edge.

John Stockton added 13 assists for the Jazz, who have won the last six meetings between the teams.
