GAME RECAP

Grant Hill scored 20 of his 28 points in the first half as the Detroit Pistons won their third straight home game, a 111-85 rout of the Sacramento Kings.

Brian Williams added 13 of his 19 points in the opening 24 minutes as Detroit built a 19-point halftime advantage and cruised in the second half. The Pistons, who were returning from a 1-4 road trip, have won 11 of their last 13 home games against Sacramento.

Mitch Richmond and Terry Dehere led the Kings with 14 points apiece. Sacramento, which fell to 1-11 against Eastern Conference opponents, has lost three straight overall and is 0-2 on its five-game road trip.

"I thought that was about as good as you can play Mitch Richmond," said Pistons coach Alvin Gentry. "I don't know what else you can do, he earned all of his points. He shot 3-for-12 and that is the most you can hope for."

"We didn't have any answers for them at all," said Kings coach Eddie Jordan. "When Brian Williams gets it going like he did, it is hard to defend him with a rookie center. You can watch all the tape you want but until you know his moves, you are going to be behind."

Detroit scored the first five points of the game and was never headed. The Pistons led 15-6 with 6:04 to play in the first quarter when Hill keyed a 20-6 burst to break the game open. Hill, who had 12 in the quarter and six in the spurt, finished 11-of-16 from the field with 13 rebounds and five assists in 31 minutes.

"It was good to get a win like that," Hill said. "It's been a long time since we had a game like that. We did a good job on Mitch."

The Pistons shot 60 percent (24-of-40) in the opening half while Sacramento made just 14-of-42 shots (33 percent). The Kings also committed 20 turnovers in the contest.

The lead grew to 31 points in the fourth quarter.

Richmond was 3-of-12 from the field and committed five turnovers. Pistons guard Jerry Stackhouse forced him into some bad shots but Richmond felt there were other factors in the loss.

"They took it to us," said Richmond. "All we can do is be ready to play when they come to our place. Our energy and intensity wasn't there. We didn't have any emotion."

"You just try and stop him, slow him down," Stackhouse said. "He's going to take his shots but you don't want to let him have a big game. If you control him you have a chance."

Kings point guard Anthony Johnson missed his second straight game with a sprained left ankle.
