GAME RECAP

Chris Webber had 26 points and eight rebounds and Tracy Murray added 24 points as the Washington Wizards defeated the Golden State Warriors for the fourth straight time, 110-87.

Webber has 62 points and 21 rebounds in two games after an eight-game absence due to a strained shoulder. Rod Strickland recorded 20 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for the Wizards, who led throughout and pulled away in the fourth quarter.

"We really need now to put some wins together and I think we're poised and ready to do it," Webber said. "We know how to, it's just a matter of doing it. We were pretty much consistent with getting our shots off tonight and played with the same intensity as Tuesday."

Calbert Cheaney had nine of his 15 points in the final period as Washington outscored Golden State, 29-18.

"We've been consistent of late," said Washington coach Bernie Bickerstaff. "Our guys have been playing hard. It helps to have Webber back. He gives us another weapon and he's somebody you've got to contest. One thing in this league, you win with talent."

Jim Jackson tallied 18 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Warriors, who were coming off an 87-82 road win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday. Donyell Marshall contributed 17 points and Clarence Weatherspoon added 16 for Golden State, which lost for the 13th time in its last 15 road games.

"We got pumped up and the Wizards came out and beat us," said Marshall. "For whatever reason we didn't play the way we should have."

Webber had five points in Washington's 12-2 second-period run that put the Wizards ahead for good. Chris Whitney, who had five points, began the surge with a layup and Webber capped it with a three-point play for a 42-34 advantage with 3:39 left in the period.

Webber had 14 points and Strickland added 13 as Washington took a 50-42 lead into halftime.

Golden State opened the third period with an 8-2 spurt, cutting the deficit to 52-50 when Weatherspoon dunked with 8:53 left. But the Wizards pulled away as Murray had nine points in a 14-2 run for a 72-56 advantage with 4:26 left.

The Wizards brought an 81-69 lead into the fourth quarter and led by at least nine points throughout the period.

Tony Delk, who had 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench, cut Washington's lead to 85-76 with three-pointer with 9:17 to play. Murray responded with a jumper, Webber followed with a layup and Cheaney had a dunk to push the lead to 91-76 with 7:25 left. The Wizards had their biggest lead with 56 seconds to go after Ben Wallace dunked to make it 108-82.
