Game Recap

Alan Henderson scored 23 points and the Atlanta Hawks continued their mastery over struggling Toronto, defeating the Raptors for the 12th straight time, 105-91.

Mookie Blaylock added 16 points and was 4-for-7 from three-point range, including hitting his 1,000th career three-pointer in the third quarter, and Dikembe Mutombo grabbed 10 rebounds for Atlanta, which swept the four-game season series from Toronto. The Hawks improved to 13-9 at the Georgia Dome this season.

Since Toronto entered the NBA two seasons ago, the Indiana Pacers -- who have beaten the Raptors 11 consecutive times -- are the only other Eastern Conference team with an unbeaten record against the Raptors.

The Hawks played without Steve Smith (knee) and Christian Laettner (sprained ankle). Replacing them were Tyrone Corbin, who had eight points, seven rebounds and four steals, and Chucky Brown, who finished with 14 points and five rebounds.

"I would say Chrsitian's definitely out for Friday against Houston and on Steve we'll have to wait and see," Atlanta coach Lenny Wilkens said.

Henderson contributed five rebounds and four assists for Atlanta (43-29), which is three games behind Charlotte (46-26) in the race for the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference and homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

"We're definitely not where we'd like to be," Henderson said. "We had a couple of long losing streaks in the first half of the year. We're just going to keep playing hard, get everybody healthy and hopefully roll into the playoffs."

"We played smart," Wilkens added. "You've got to stay focused against everybody. A team like this is a spoiler at this point of the season. They come out and they're loose. They've got nothing to lose."

Doug Christie and Gary Trent each scored 14 points and Marcus Camby pulled down 11 rebounds for the Raptors, who suffered their seventh straight loss and have dropped seven of their last eight road games.

The Hawks outrebounded the Raptors 42-40, outshot them from the field 49 percent (39-for-79) to 42 percent (36-for-86) and turned 19 Toronto turnovers into 24 points.

"The game was physical from the start," Toronto coach Butch Carter said. "We got frustrated because we didn't make our easy shots or our normal shots. We seemed to rely more on individual play than team play. They made their shots tonight and we didn't."

The Raptors owned their last lead of the game with 7:40 left in the first quarter, 13-12, after Oliver Miller hit a layup.

Atlanta's next possession led to a three-pointer from Blaylock, giving the Hawks a lead they did not relinquish.

Blaylock and Mutombo contibuted eight points apiece in the first quarter as Atlanta took a 30-23 lead. The Hawks put away the game by opening the second quarter with a 9-0 run, capped by Brown's two free throws for a 39-23 lead with 8:55 remaining.

Toronto never really threatened after that, getting no closer than 61-50 with 10:48 left in the third quarter after a three-pointer by Christie.

Atlanta took its largest lead, 89-66, with 9:35 remianing on a pair of free throws by Mutombo.
