Game Recap

Shareef Abdur-Rahim collected 30 points and 11 rebounds and Bryant Reeves added 25 and 10 in three quarters as the Vancouver Grizzlies ended a 14-game road losing streak with a 110-94 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Reeves had eight points and seven boards while playing the entire third quarter as the Grizzlies built a six-point halftime edge into a 82-69 cushion. Vancouver continued to add to its lead in the final period, going ahead 101-77 on Abdur-Rahim's three-pointer with 4:34 left.

"Me and Bryant are just getting used to playing with each other," said Abdur-Rahim. "We have really helped each other step up. We are getting more mature in our games and kind of complement each other."

Reserve Tony Massenburg had 17 points and seven rebounds and Blue Edwards added 12 points for the Grizzlies, who improved to just 4-33 on the road and 4-22 since the All-Star break. They snapped a six-game skid.

"It was a good feeling to win on the road like this," Reeves said. "It was nice to get out to a big lead and allow everyone to play in the game."

Isaac Austin netted 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Clippers before leaving with a strained right calf in the third quarter. Seldom-used James Collins had a season-high 15 points, including 13 straight for Los Angeles in the final 2 1/2 minutes.

Turnovers were the difference, as Vancouver committed just 11 while turning the Clippers' 19 miscues into 27 points. Los Angeles scored just 14 off giveaways.

Michael Smith scored 10 points and Lee Mayberry dished out eight assists for the Grizzlies, who shot 45 percent (45-of-101) from the field and held a 52-45 rebounding edge.

Abdur-Rahim and Reeves each netted 17 first-half points as the Grizzlies took a 61-55 edge at the break. The Clippers trailed the entire quarter but cut the deficit to one on Austin's two free throws with 3:32 left in the half. But Reeves' lay-in and a bucket and a free throw by Abdur-Rahim lengthened the lead.

The Clippers trailed 15-13 before James Robinson followed a dunk with a layup with 3:53 to go in the first quarter.

"We have a few games left so we have to play hard and not lay down," Robinson said. "I'm going to do my best to see that the team stays focused so we can make a statement for next year."

Robinson had 14 points and Lamond Murray registered 13 for Los Angeles, which has dropped 10 of its last 11 games.
