Game Story

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Although there were plenty of losses in between, the Toronto Raptors started and finished play at SkyDome with victories.

Doug Christie scored 20 points and rookie Vince Carter added 13 and eight rebounds as the Raptors ended a five-game losing streak with a 90-82 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

"It feels good to get a win. Coming out of North Carolina I'm not used to losing," Carter said. "Hopefully this will give us confidence going into our next game."

Kevin Willis recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds and Tracy McGrady had 12 points, seven assists and six boards for Toronto, which held a 51-34 rebounding advantage.

Playing predominantly at the spacious rectractable-roof venue, the Raptors have gone 43-83 at home since entering the NBA in 1995. Their first game was a 94-79 home win over the New Jersey Nets on November 3, 1995.

Christie, who is the only player left from the inaugural season, shot just 6-of-18 from the field and had five rebounds and five assists.

"Hopefully we can build on this," Christie said. "SkyDome was good but we're looking forward to the new building."

Toronto, which also has played home games at Maple Leaf Gardens, moves into the new Air Canada Centre in two days when it hosts their expansion brethren, the Vancouver Grizzlies.

Dell Curry scored 17 points off the bench and Terrell Brandon added 14 for the Bucks, who defeated the Raptors in Toronto, 91-77, on February 9.

Charles Oakley, who had eight points and nine rebounds, ignited a 10-0 burst with a driving layup that pulled the Raptors within 56-53 with 4:56 remaining in the third quarter. Christie followed with a driving and McGrady gave the Raptors the lead for good with a short jumper 24 seconds later.

McGrady scored six points in a 21-7 run that he capped with a running jumper for a 72-63 advantage with 9:08 to play.

Ray Allen, who had 10 points, made a 3-pointer to pull the Bucks within 80-75 with 3:52 remaining. But Christie answered with a driving layup 56 seconds later to spark an 8-2 burst. The Raptors built the lead as large as 88-77 when Carter dunked with 52 seconds left.

"When my jumper is not falling, I need patience," said Allen, who shot just 4-of-12. "We find the first shot and let it go. We never get to the free-throw line. Vince and Tracy are young and play with energy. They're extremely athletic. They have fun with it and bring energy into the game."

The Bucks shot 45 percent (18-for-40) in the first half and held a 44-39 lead at the break. Milwaukee maintained the lead until Christie sank a 3-pointer to make it 49-49 with 7:01 left in the third quarter.

Brandon responded with a 16-footer and Allen followed with a 3-pointer to give the Bucks a 56-51 cushion with 5:37 to go.
