Game Story

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Jalen Rose and Derrick McKey combined for eight points in overtime and the Indiana Pacers never trailed in the extra session en route to a 108-100 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Rose went 4-for-4 from the foul line in the final 19 seconds of overtime and finished with 25 points for the Pacers, who defeated Milwaukee for the third time this season. The first two victories were by a combined seven points.

"We feel real fortunate to beat this good Milwaukee Buck team," Rose said. "Especially in overtime. It was very tough. Seven games remain and we need to go out and get all of them. We must play with the consistency that we have shown recently and go out tough every night."

Dale Davis made the second of two free throws with 3:31 to play in overtime, putting the Pacers ahead for good and starting a 6-0 run that gave Indiana a 102-96 advantage with 2:26 remaining. Milwaukee came no closer than four points thereafter.

"I am trying to stay more aggressive, get the shots when they present themselves and give good defense to help pick this team up," said McKey.

Reggie Miller scored 20 points and Mark Jackson dished out seven assists for the Pacers, who have won two in a row following a brief two-game skid.

"It was good to get a victory against a good playoff team," said Miller.

Glenn Robinson had 27 points and 14 rebounds for Milwaukee, which has dropped seven of its last 11 games.

"Their defense really clamped down on me and forced me to take some tougher shots," said Robinson. "We could have had this game but Indiana is a good team."

Rik Smits opened the scoring in the overtime with dunk for Indiana before Robinson tied it by nailing a 13-footer with 4:22 to play. Travis Best nailed a baseline jumper for the Pacers and Ray Allen responded for Milwaukee.

Davis made his free throw and Miller finally ended the back-and-forth pattern by hitting the first of two free throws with 3:06 left, giving the Pacers a 98-96 lead. After Allen misfired on two jumpers and Robinson was not able to convert an offensive rebound, McKey's layup with 2:26 left made it a four-point game.

McKey took a feed from Rose to convert a layup with 1:45 left and the Pacers had the first of three six-point leads they would hold down the stretch. Any chance of a Bucks' comeback was thwarted by Rose, who sealed the game from the foul line.

McKey and Smits scored 15 points apiece and Davis grabbed 10 rebounds for Indiana, which shot 49 percent (42-of-86) and went 6-of-16 from 3-point range to help offset a 50-41 rebounding disadvantage.

Robinson grabbed 14 rebouinds for the Bucks, who committed 19 turnovers leading to 31 points for Indiana. Tim Thomas scored a season-high 21 points, Allen 14 and Haywoode Workman had 12 points while dishing out 11 assists for Milwaukee.

"I didn't see any execution out there," said Bucks coach George Karl. "It's disappointing (losing this one). We played a good basketball game. If we would have rebounded, we would have won."

Milwaukee led 80-76 entering the fourth quarter but Best immediately made a short jumper and it remained a one-possession game throughout the remainder of regulation. Michael Curry made a pair or free throws with 42 seconds left to give Milwaukee a 92-90 lead, but Smits' tip-in of his own miss with 3.3 seconds left forced overtime.
