Game StoryBOSTON (Ticker) -- Dana Barros had 20 points and Ron Mercer added 18 to lead six players in double figures as the Boston Celtics rolled to an 113-84 victory over the Washington Wizards.
Barros spent most of the fourth period on the bench as the Celtics opened an 84-67 lead after the third period en route to their second straight lopsided victory. Boston posted a 100-71 win in Chicago on Friday.
The Celtics, who improved to 13-1 this season when scoring more than 100 points, stretched their advantage to 111-82 on Tony Battie's 3-pointer with 54 seconds remaining.
Rod Stickland added 14 for the Wizards, one day after he was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.
"Unfortunately, there's really nothing to play for," Strickland said. "I've never been in that situation in a season. Regardless of the playoffs, you play hard and we stunk tonight."
It marked the fourth time in the last six games Boston eclipsed the century mark.
"Everyone is coming together for us right now," Mercer said. "Unfortunately, it's at the end of the year. We played great today. We've been playing great the past two games."
Mitch Richmond had 18 points and Otis Thorpe added 15 for the Wizards, who suffered their fifth straight loss and were officially eliminated from the playoffs when the New York Knicks defeated Miami.
The Celtics never trailed after taking a 17-15 lead on Mercer's jumper with 3:48 left in the first quarter.
"Coach (Rick Pitino) stressed balanced scoring and everyone contributed," said Boston forward Walter McCarty, who had 17 points off the bench. "That's what happened this afternoon. When that happens, we win."
Vitaly Potapenko scored 16 points while Damon Jones added 15 for the Celtics, who shot 54 percent (45-of-84) from the field and converted 22 Washington turnovers into 26 points. Rookie Paul Pierce chipped in with 11.
"We have a lot of talent and a lot of guys who can put the ball in," McCarty said. "We just have to get more focused, but we've had a positive attitude lately, even though we're not going to the playoffs."
The Wizards shot just 40 percent (34-of-86), losing for the second time this season at the FleetCenter. Washington suffered a 107-88 loss in Boston on April 7.
"They have pressured us a lot," Strickland said. "We've struggled in both games here. I think the press rattles us. We never got in our set offense. We scrambled too much. We were too indecisive, too many turnovers, and they capitalized."
The Celtics outscored the Wizards, 28-17, in the second period to build a 52-38 halftime lead before breaking it open in the second half. Boston committed 18 turnovers, but outscored the Wizards, 48-32, in the paint.
"This afternoon was great," Mercer said. "It's always great to get a blowout once in awhile."
