Game Story

DALLAS (Ticker) -- Michael Finley scored 31 points, including 11 straight during a decisive fourth-quarter run, as the Dallas Mavericks improved their season-high winning streak to four games with a 105-94 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

Finley, who was 11-of-17 from the field and 9-of-9 at the line, made a driving layup with 3:15 to play that gave the Mavericks a 95-88 lead. He made a pair of free throws with 1:12 remaining to cap his one-man 11-2 spurt, pushing the advantage to 104-90.

"Mike took over in the second half," Dallas coach Don Nelson said. "He was sensational. We would have had quite a year had he not struggled early in the season."

Dallas, which had not won four in a row since the outset of the 1995-96 season, earned a split in the four-game season series. The Mavericks, playing their final home game, were given a warm ovation from the fans at Reunion Arena as they exited the floor.

"It's nice to finish up at home with a win," Finley said. "If we think back next year (on) how we played at home last year, maybe we can use that as a motivational factor. Maybe we can have an excellent season."

The Mavericks finished 15-10 at home, marking the first time they have been better than .500 in Dallas since the 1989-90 season.

Donyell Marshall scored a career-high 36 points and rookie Antawn Jamison added a season-high 24 for Golden State, which was eliminated from the postseason race with Friday's loss at Minnesota.

"We've got two games left," Jamison said. "It would be nice to finish strong and then work during the summer to come back strong next year."

John Starks collected 13 points for the Warriors, who shot 49 percent (43-of-87) from the field and yielded 19 points off 13 turnovers.

Dallas center Shawn Bradley grabbed 15 rebounds, including a career-high 10 offensive boards. The Mavericks shot 51 percent (40-of-78) and held a 43-38 rebounding edge.

"Dallas played better and executed better in the fourth quarter," Golden State coach P.J. Carlesimo said. "We only had one stretch, in the second period, where we played real well. But our guys came back and really competed in the fourth. Dallas came up with big rebounds in the fourth, they scored off them, too."

"The guy who was an influence in the last quarter was Shawn Bradley," Nelson added. "He didn't play well up to that point but he rebounded, played defense and blocked shots when we really needed it. It couldn't have happened at a better time."

Hubert Davis scored a season-high 21 points and Gary Trent added 17 before leaving the game with a pulled hamstring. Trent, who was 7-of-9 from the field in the first half before coming up lame early in the third, is listed as day-to-day.

Rookie Dirk Nowitzki scored 15 points for the Mavs, who were 20-of-25 at the line while the Warriors were just 5-of-12.

"We made stupid mental mistakes," said Marshall. "We played hard and tried to win the game. You've got two teams that are out of the playoffs. Right now, we're out there playing for pride."
