Game Story

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- Terry Cummings scored six of his 18 points in a key fourth-quarter surge as the Golden State Warriors handed the Vancouver Grizzlies their sixth straight loss, 91-83.

Golden State had a two-point lead with five minutes remaining before Donyell Marshall and Cummings hit consecutive jumpers to trigger a 12-2 run that pushed the advantage to 87-75 with 34 seconds left.

"A lot of us just got out and ran, and that led to easy baskets," Cummings said. "We defended really well and they had a lot of shots that kept going long. It's a game that if you want to win it, you will win it."

Marshall also scored 18 points and Chirs Mills added 15 for the Warriors, who snapped a five-game road losing streak and a three-game skid overall.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 20 points for Vancouver (8-41), which moved closer to securing the worst record in the NBA. The Grizzlies are 1 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the worst mark and must win their last game and have Los Angeles lose twice in order to avoid finishing in the NBA cellar.

"It's been a tough season. We just have to try to forget about it and move on," Abdur-Rahim said. "Losing is definitely not fun and if losing causes growth, then we've definitely grown a lot."

Vancouver held a 65-62 lead with 9:21 remaining after Michael Smith's tip-in. But the Warriors took the lead for good with the help of a 13-4 run, capped by Bimbo Coles' lay-in for a 75-69 advantage with 5:49 to play.

Coles finished with 11 points as the Warriors shot 46 percent (30-of-66) compared to only 37 percent (28-of-76) for Vancouver. Golden State made an impressive 28-of-32 attempts from the free throw line.

Smith scored eight of his 10 points in a sloppy first half that helped the Grizzlies to a 41-38 lead. Vancouver forced the Warriors into 12 turnovers in the first half and 20 overall.

Rookie Mike Bibby had 10 assists for the Grizzlies, who went 7-18 at home.
