Game Story

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- David Wesley scored 28 points and Derrick Coleman added 22, both season highs, as the Charlotte Hornets remained perfect against the plummeting Vancouver Grizzlies with a 113-94 victory.

Wesley's 3-pointer triggered a 7-0 third-quarter run that gave the Hornets an 81-63 lead with 2:04 left. Charlotte led by at least 14 points thereafter as it improved to 7-0 all-time against Vancouver, which entered the NBA in 1995.

Wesley shot 10-of-15 from the floor and also dished out eight assists as the Hornets shot 55 percent (46-of-83) overall. Coleman and rookie Eddie Robinson were each 8-of-11.

"I've been shooting the ball short a lot. I didn't expect to shoot the ball short for so long," Wesley said. "It's just a matter of getting the ball over the front of the rim and getting it in the hoop."

Robinson scored 16 points and Elden Campbell added 15 as the Hornets improved to 1-2 on their four-game road trip and just 2-6 on the road overall.

"We've got to be confident we can win anywhere we play and I think these guys are getting that way," Hornets coach Paul Silas said. "They needed it as badly as we did."

Eddie Jones dished out 12 assists to lead Charlotte, which converted 22 Vancouver turnovers in 21 points.

Michael Dickerson scored a season-high 29 points on 12-of-17 shooting for the Grizzlies, who have lost a league season-high 10 straight games. They heard a chorus of boos in the fourth quarter from the few who remained from the 12,107 at GM Place.

"Until we get more of a respect for the basketball and relax and take our time and continue to give up 21 points off turnovers, then we're going to continue to lose basketball games," said Grizzlies coach Brian Hill, who job security has come under scrutiny.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 15 points and Felipe Lopez added 11 for Vancouver, which shot 51 percent (36-of-71) but has failed to score 100 points in seven of its last eight games.

"I'm under the firm belief that players play basketball games. That's where the responsibility lies," Abdur-Rahim said. "We're a much better basketball team than we are playing and we've shown it. I think that's the sad part."

Charlotte scored the final six points of the first half to lead, 56-46. Wesley paced the Hornets with 16 points and Dickerson scored 13 for the Grizzlies.

Charlotte outscored Vancouver, 29-21, in the second quarter and shot 73 percent (11-of-15) from the floor while holding the Grizzlies to 38 percent (8-of-21).
