Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings quickly forgot about a bad road loss as they remained unbeaten at home and stopped the Los Angeles Lakers' season-high seven-game winning streak with a 103-91 triumph.

Chris Webber had 20 points and 12 rebounds and Jason Williams added 19 points and five assists as Sacramento improved to 8-0 at Arco Arena, joining the San Antonio Spurs as the only undefeated home teams in the NBA.

"People don't give us credit," said Williams, who made 6-of-11 shots from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. "Everyone is always talking about the elite teams and you never hear our names, but we can just take it one game at a time, get as many wins as we can. Everyone is a big win and we'll try to stay undefeated at home. We have great fans and we want to win for them."

Predrag Stojakovic scored 19 points came off the bench on 7-of-9 shooting for the Kings. Sacramento's reserves outscored the Lakers' bench, 36-16. The Kings were coming off a 2-3 road trip that concluded with a disappointing 109-95 loss to New Jersey on Monday.

Lawrence Funderburke scored 10 points off the bench, making 4-of-5 shots, for Sacramento and Vlade Divac had nine points and nine boards. The Kings moved within one game of the Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers for the lead in the Pacific Division and best record in the Western Conference.

"It's just a great win," said Sacramento coach Rick Adelman. "I was just really proud of the way they approached the game. It's great to be able to beat a team that is in first place in our division. Coming in here after our trip and everything, I've got to compliment our guys with the concentration that they showed tonight."

Shaquille O'Neal had 27 points and nine rebounds and Kobe Bryant added 27 and six for Los Angeles, which has lost three of the last four meetings with the Kings. O'Neal and Bryant each went 11-of-19 from the floor, but the rest of the Lakers shot just 29 percent (13-of-45).

"We could never really get in a rhythm tonight," said O'Neal, who had three fouls after the the second quarter. "They played well, they're a good team at home. Their bench played very well, they made a lot of shots. We missed a lot of shots, ones we don't usually miss."

The 27 points were a season high for Bryant, who was playing his fifth game after missing all of November with a broken bone in his right hand.

The Kings went ahead for good, 23-22, when Stojakovic made a jumper from the left sideline with 9:46 left in the second period. Sacramento followed with eight straight points, taking a 31-22 lead when Stojakovic hit a 16-footer with just under seven minutes to go.

The Kings took a 49-42 lead into halftime and kept the margin in between five and 11 points in the third. Sacramento's biggest lead came at 80-68 when Scot Pollard made two free throws with 9:24 remaining.
