Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Chris Webber scored 31 points and the Sacramento Kings withstood a rally late in the fourth quarter for their fourth straight home win, 116-113 over the Indiana Pacers.

Webber added seven rebounds and six assists for the Kings, who returned from a 2-2 road trip and have won five of seven overall.

"Indiana is a tough team," Webber said. "We're glad we kept those leads early in the game so we didn't let them get a run and let Reggie (Miller) hit some three's and bury us."

Sacramento took a 98-83 lead on a 17-foot jumper by Webber with 9:10 remaining. But Travis Best scored nine of his 17 fourth-quarter points during an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to 101-94 at the 5:34 mark.

Vlade Divac made a layup to give Sacramento a 10-point cushion before Austin Croshere converted a three-point play and Al Harrington hit two free throws to bring the Pacers within 108-102 with 2:33 left.

After the teams traded baskets, Nick Anderson, who scored a season-high 25 points, hit a 3-pointer from the left sideline to give Sacramento a 113-104 advantage with 1:45 remaining. Indiana got to 115-110 on a layup by Best, but Jason Williams hit one of two free throws with eight seconds left, rendering Reggie Miller's last-second 3-pointer meaningless.

"We just need to be consistent and play the entire 48 minutes. That's what good teams do," Anderson said. "We're still learning. We have a bunch of young guys and I'm never too old to learn to be more consistent."

Corliss Williamson scored 23 points and Divac finished with 16 for the Kings, whose starting five combined for 101 points. Sacramento shot an impressive 54 percent (44-of-81) from the field.

Croshere scored a career-high 22 points before fouling out in the final minute and Best matched his season high with 20 for Indiana, which has lost back-to-back games for ther first time since November 22-25. The Pacers had a season-high seven-game winning streak snapped on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

"Their starters beat us pretty good but our bench played well," Pacers coach Larry Bird said. "(Our bench) played hard in the second and fourth quarters, that's why we got back into the game. But we made some mistakes coming down the stretch and they hit some tough shots."

Webber scored 11 first-quarter points as Sacramento took a 36-31 lead. Indiana closed to within 50-49 on a basket by Harrington but Webber and Williamson combined for 10 points as part of a 15-5 Kings' run to take a 65-54 lead at halftime.

Sacramento took its largest lead, 74-58, on a hook shot by Anderson at the 8:36 mark but the Pacers responded with a 13-4 spurt to cut the deficit to 78-71 with 5:06 remaining. The Kings scored 12 of the last 16 points of the quarter to lead 90-77 entering the final period.

Williams contributed 15 assists along with six points for the Kings, who have won four straight home games and improved to 13-2 at Arco Arena.

"We have great confidence playing at home," Williamson said. "We feel like we can get away with a few things that we normally couldn't because we have the crowd behind us."

Miller finished with 19 points, but was invisible in the second half, scoring only six, including his 3-pointer just before the final buzzer.
