Game Story

BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Grizzlies completed the best road trip in franchise history as Mike Bibby and Othella Harrington each recorded career bests in points in a 112-103 victory over the Boston Celtics.

Bibby scored 33 points and Harrington added 27 as Vancouver won three straight games on the road for the first time and completed a 4-1 trip. Bibby made 12-of-20 shots, including all six of his 3-pointers. Harrington connected on 11-of-14 shots and also grabbed 12 rebounds.

"My job was to find the open spot on the court and knock down 3s," Bibby said. "I was fortunate to get some good open looks and drain them."

"The career high isn't that big a deal to me," Harrington said. "It's great to put up the numbers; it's more important to keep putting up these road wins."

The Grizzlies shot a torrid 80 percent (8-of-10) from behind the arc and had four 3-pointers in a 14-0 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters.

Dennis Scott began the run with a 3-pointer to cut Boston's lead to 82-80 with 27 seconds left in the third. Michael Dickerson hit a 3-pointer from the right wing as time ran out in the third and Bibby opened the fourth with consecutive 3-pointers.

Harrington capped the run with a 14-footer from the right corner to give Vancouver a 91-82 advantage with 9:31 to play. The Grizzlies won for the first time in 19 games when allowing their opponent to score 100 points.

Paul Pierce scored 23 points and Kenny Anderson added 22 and eight assists for Boston, which has lost consecutive games to Chicago and Vancouver, who have a combined record of 15-50.

"We just lost back-to-back games to the two teams with the worst records in the NBA," Pierce said. "If that isn't a wakeup call I don't know what is. Maybe we're just not focusing enough on our coach's messages. I know we're all working hard, but we're running out of time to make our move."

Antoine Walker contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Celtics, who shot 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from 3-point range.

"What I'll say is we didn't play badly they just played great," Boston coach Rick Pitino said. "Bibby just hit a lot of 3-pointers, a lot of big 3-pointers. The 3-point shot has just been a dagger for us in so many losses and it was again tonight. They're very good at it. They did a great job in crucial situations tonight."

Dickerson scored 16 points as the Grizzlies shot 49 percent (36-of-74) and improved to 2-2 all-time in Boston.

"I've seen this before out of (Bibby) at Arizona," said Dickerson, who was a teammate of Bibby's on Arizona's 1997 national championship team. "When he gets in his rhythm you just want to keep feeding him the ball. He was huge tonight. He obviously was a big reason we won."

Vancouver faced a 59-52 deficit at halftime as Pierce scored 14 points and Vitaly Potapenko added 12 of his 19 to lead Boston.

The Grizzlies trimmed the deficit to 66-65 on Harrington's hook with 7:08 remaining in the third period and Bibby's layup with 4:37 left tied it 70-70, the first time that Boston did not lead since early in the first quarter.

The Celtics pushed the lead back to 82-77 when Walker made a layup with 52 seconds left. Dickerson had a layup blocked by Battie before Scott grabbed the rebound and made the shot that ignited Vancouver's run.
