Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Glenn Robinson was virtually unstoppable, scoring 25 points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 108-97 victory over the Boston Celtics.

Robinson also had eight assists, five rebounds, four steals, a blocked shot and a 3-pointer in 35 minutes.

"We got off to a good start early." said Robinson, who has scored at least 20 points in each of his last seven games. "All of us are taking more pride in moving the ball and getting shots for each other."

Sam Cassell added 19 points and a season-high 14 assists for Milwaukee, which raced to a 17-point lead after one quarter. The Bucks used an early 8-2 run to take the lead for good, 12-8, and made five 3-pointers in the opening period.

"We are a better team when we move the basketball, period," Milwaukee coach George Karl said. "The guys came out and moved the ball on offense and found open shots. That was the key to us winning the game."

Robinson scored nine points in the first quarter, when the Bucks shot 67 percent (14-of-21). He finished the opening half with 13 points, four assists and two steals, helping Milwaukee take a 59-42 lead into the locker room.

The Bucks have won three straight for the first time since ending last season with a three-game win streak. They have won seven of the last eight meetings with Boston.

"The past few games we've been playing terrific defense," said Boston coach Rick Pitino, "We played really well defensively against Cleveland, but you have to credit them, they're XHхoffensive team. They had 32 assists and that shows how unselfish they are."

Paul Pierce scored 34 points and Antoine Walker added 20 for the Celtics, who fell to 1-5 on the road.

"Early on we gave them a lot of open shots, they made them, and they had a big lead right away," said Pierce. "Against a team like that on the road, you can't give them a big lead."

Eric Williams drilled back-to-back 3-pointers and Bryant Stith hit a 19-footer during an 8-2 run that got Boston within 88-84 early in the fourth quarter.

But the Bucks called a timeout and Tim Thomas responded with six straight points to help Milwaukee pull away.

"We get a lot of confidence when we keep making shots," Robinson said. "We want to go into December and play like we know we can. We want to keep this streak going, we're moving the ball better and we're winning games."

Boston went to the line 27 times, but connected on only 18 free throws.
