Game Story

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- Boosted by their superior bench, the Sacramento Kings closed with an 8-0 run and defeated the Vancouver Grizzlies, 95-93.

Chris Webber, who had 33 points and 12 rebounds, made a pair of free throws to spur the run and pull the Kings within 93-89 with just under two minutes remaining. After Isaac Austin missed a jumper, Peja Stojakovic took a pass from Bobby Jackson and sank a 3-pointer to cut Vancouver's lead to one with 1:29 remaining.

Webber pulled down a rebound of a missed layup by Mike Bibby and sent an outlet pass to Jackson, who completed the break with a layup for a 94-93 edge with 65 seconds remaining.

Vancouver had a chance to regain the lead, but a 3-pointer from the left wing by Shareef Abdur-Rahim bounced off the inside of the iron with 42 seconds left. Webber missed a shot but the Grizzlies wasted another opportunity as Michael Dickerson's jumper from the right wing hit off the front rim.

Stojakovic grabbed the rebound and made one free throw with 3.8 seconds left for the final margin.

Damon Jones took a desperation running jumper that just reached the front rim as time expired and the Grizzlies lost for the seventh time in eight games.

Lawrence Funderburke scored 12 points in 19 minutes off the bench and Jackson added 10 as Sacramento's reserves outscored Vancouver's, 26-9. The Kings are 9-3 when its bench wins the scoring battle.
