Washington (7-25) at Chicago (5-26) 8:30 pm EST ---------------------------------------------------------------- Chicago (Ticker) -- If it weren't for the Chicago Bulls, the Washington Wizards would own the worst record in the league. But Thursday night the Wizards will try to prove they are indeed a lot better than the Bulls when the teams meet at the United Center.

Chicago, which has split its last four games, is coming off its most embarrassing loss of the season. The Bulls were humiliated by the Milwaukee Bucks, 104-70, on Tuesday.

Chicago missed its first eight shots and scored just four points in the first seven minutes. Elton Brand scored 17 points and Ron Mercer added 16 for the Bulls, who had no other players in double figures.

The Bulls are led by Mercer and Brand, each of whom is averaging 19 points per game. Chicago is only 3-12 at the United Center and the team was booed heartily by the home crowd during its game with the Bucks.

Washington, meanwhile, has won two games in a row for the first time this season. The Wizards recently broke a seven-game slide.

Juwan Howard stood up to Kevin Garnett and helped Washington beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, 115-108. Howard scored 22 points, including six in a row early in the fourth quarter.

The Wizards are led by Howard's 16.3 ppg.
