Game Story

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Jason Kidd notched his fifth triple-double of the season in just 29 minutes to lead the Phoenix Suns to their most lopsided victory of the season, 108-76 over the Vancouver Grizzlies.

"This is the first time all year we've blown someone out," Phoenix coach Scott Skiles said. "There were a lot of good things out there on the floor, especially our defensive intensity."

Vancouver suffered its most lopsided defeat as it was held below 80 points for the 10th time this season. The Suns are 32-0 all-time when holding opponents under 80.

Despite not playing the fourth quarter, Kidd had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists for his 36th career triple-double and fourth against the Grizzlies. He is seven away from passing Fat Lever for fifth on the NBA's all-time list.

Shawn Marion added 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting and pulled down 13 rebounds for Phoenix, which shot 50 percent (43-of-86) and improved to 11-0 when shooting 49 percent or better. Tony Delk helped that cause, hitting 10-of-18 for 23 points.

Phoenix's bench scored 35 points, led by rookie Jake Tsakalidis, who tied a season high with 10 points.

"I'm not going to stand up here and act like Jake has arrived," Skiles said. "He was very active and it was great to get him some extended minutes."

Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 14 points apiece for the Grizzlies, who beat Charlotte on Wednesday but have lost six of their last seven games.

Vancouver shot 31 percent (26-of-84) as a team and did not score more than 20 points in any quarter. Every Grizzlies starter was held below their season average.

"They just dominated us from the go," Abdur-Rahim said. "We didn't play the way we would need to play to win a game."

Michael Dickerson was held to 10 points, five below his season average, on 3-of-14 shooting.

"Some of the things I'm used to doing I wasn't able to do tonight," Dickerson said. "They did a great job of countering what we usually do."

The Suns opened strong, scoring a season-high 31 points in the first quarter, and never looked back.

Phoenix went on a 10-2 run early in the first quarter to build a 17-6 lead. Vancouver responded with its own 13-2 run to tie it at 19 but the Suns closed the quarter with 12 unanswered points and held a 31-19 lead.

Bryant Reeves' two free throws got Vancouver within 33-27 with 6:55 remaining in the first half before Phoenix ran off eight straight points for a 41-27 lead. The Grizzlies never got back within single digits.
