Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings had a distinct size advantage over the New Jersey Nets but did not need to use it.

Instead, the Kings used the 3-pointer to post an NBA season high in points with a 130-104 rout of the Nets, who held the previous high.

New Jersey scored 126 points against Seattle on November 11. Sacramento's previous season high was 125, also against Seattle on November 25.

"It's good to get back in the offensive groove and score the points we scored," Kings forward Chris Webber said. "We're happy about getting the win. Wins are all we care about."

The Kings sank a season-high 14 3-pointers, including seven in the third quarter to tie a franchise record, and shot 50 percent (14-of-28) from behing the arc in their most dominant offensive performance of the season.

"We shot the ball well, we didn't defend it all that well," Sacramento coach Rick Adelman said. "In the third period, especially, we had great spacing."

Webber had 25 points, nine rebounds and a season-high 10 assists, but it was Sacramento's outside shooters who were the stars.

Peja Stojakovic scored 22 points and shot 3-of-7 from behind the arc. Doug Christie made 3-of-4 3-pointers and added 19 points and the inconsistent Jason Williams had 16 points after drilling 4-of-8 3-pointers.

"Peja and those guys just could not miss," New Jersey coach Byron Scott said. "You're going to have nights like they had tonight, and there is nothing you can do about it."

The Kings scored over 100 points for the fifth straight game but had not won by more than 11 points since a 34-point rout of Washington on December 19.

"It's about time," Kings forward Scot Pollard said. "We struggled a little bit during the holidays. We got some wins, lost a few, but they were all close games. It seemed like every night was a battle or a war."

In contrast, the Nets were just 1-of-9 from beyond the arc and made their first 3-pointer with less than a minute to go.

When the Kings did miss, they got the ball back, outrebounding New Jersey, 51-38, including 17 offensive boards. Vlade Divac led the way with 10 rebounds while Stojakovic, Christie and Pollard added six apiece.

Keith Van Horn had 20 points and nine rebounds and Johnny Newman added 16 points for New Jersey, which lost despite shooting 48 percent (45-of-94) and committing only eight turnovers, none in the third quarter.
