Game Story

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Maybe the Seattle SuperSonics should schedule all of their games in Los Angeles.

Seattle won for the third time in as many tries in Southern California this season with a 114-110 overtime triumph over the Los Angeles Clippers, who suffered their sixth straight loss.

Gary Payton and Ruben Patterson owned overtime, combining to score 10 of Seattle's 14 points in the extra session.

Payton broke a 103-103 tie with his only 3-pointer of the game and Patterson followed two free throws by Lamar Odom with back-to-back hook shots in the lane to give the Sonics a 110-105 lead with 1:37 to go in the extra period.

Payton finished with 26 points and Patterson had 18, seven rebounds and six assists.

Eric Piatkowski scored a season-high 30 points and Jeff McInnis added 18 for the Clippers, who fell to 0-6 in overtime this season. Quentin Richardson replaced Odom in the starting lineup and scored 18 points, none after halftime.

Odom missed practice Tuesday but entered with 7:35 left in the third quarter. He scored seven of his 16 points in overtime and grabbed six rebounds.

The Clippers had a 98-90 lead with just over two minutes left in regulation, but the Sonics closed with an 8-1 run and forced overtime with an amazing finish.

Desmond Mason inbounded to Rashard Lewis, who dished back to Mason as he cut behind rookie Keyon Dooling. Mason had a clear path to the basket and beat Piatkowski to the rim for a dunk that tied it at 100-100 with 1.5 seconds to go.

The Sonics have won all six games against Los Anegles teams this season, posting three wins over the Clippers and three over the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Seattle has won in a row overall and has not lost to the Clippers on the road since January 23, 1997.
