Game Story

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Tracy McGrady had season highs of 44 points and 13 rebounds and dominated during a late stretch as the Orlando Magic posted a 115-105 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

The Magic, who snapped a two-game losing streak, saw an 18-point advantage whittled to 95-92 when Sacramento's Mike Bibby scored with 7 1/2 minutes remaining.

But Mike Miller hit a pair of free throws for Orlando and McGrady exploded for his team's next 10 points and made it 107-98 by hitting a pair from the line with just 98 seconds remaining.

McGrady fell five points shy of his career high, set against Washington on April 13. He was 14-of-30 from the field, 15-of-20 at the foul line and also contributed six of Orlando's 24 assists.

"As far as a breakout game, I knew it would would come sooner or later," McGrady said. "I wasn't too worried about it. I was due."

Miller finished with 18 points and Grant Hill added 14, six assists and five rebounds for the Magic, who overcame a poor night from the field (40 percent) to even their season record at 3-3.

"I think we'll be special because we'll be just as tough on the defensive end as on the offensive end," said Miller. "When you get three 6-8 guys out there who are athletic and have long arms, it definitely means something special."

Orlando's Darrell Armstrong had a season-high nine assists against only two turnovers.

Vlade Divac collected 15 points and a season-high 15 rebounds for the Kings, who committed 19 turnovers while shooting 42 percent (37-of-88).

The Magic held an 81-63 lead midway through the third quarter following 20-footer from the left sideline by McGrady. But the Kings responded with a 16-3 run, fighting within 84-79 with 45 seconds left in the third quarter.

Peja Stojakovic had eight of his 31 points during that burst and the Kings entered the final quarter trailing, 88-81.

All five Sacramento starters scored in double figures, including 17 points apiece by backcourt mates Doug Christie and Mike Bibby, but the Kings still dropped their second straight after a 4-0 start.

Sacramento was unable to hold an 11-point first-half lead, allowing Orlando to rally and claim its first victory in the last five games of this series.

The Magic held a 37-15 advantage in bench points as Kings coach Rick Adelman employed only three reserves.

"The key of the game as Doc (coach Doc Rivers) said was the second unit," said Armstrong. "They really turned it up in the second period. That made the first unit come back and play the same way."
