Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings will take to the road in good spirits.

Hidayet Turkoglu scored eight of his 17 points during a pair of second-quarter runs that propelled the Kings to their 11th win in 12 home games this season, a 112-100 triumph over the Orlando Magic.

The Kings gave coach Rick Adelman his 500th career victory while completing a 4-1 homestand and now embark on a stretch during which they will play four of six away from Arco Arena, including Wednesday's visit to Phoenix.

"It feels great," Adelman said. "It's something you don't think too much about. What it really means is I have been fortunate in two different situations, to have great players in Portland, great players here, it brings back good memories."

Adelman twice guided the Trail Blazers to the NBA Finals.

Chris Webber scored 24 points to lead Sacramento and Peja Stojakovic added 23. Doug Christie had 10 points and a season-high 13 rebounds for the Kings, who rallied from a nine-point deficit by scoring the final eight of the first quarter.

Rookie Gerald Wallace put Sacramento ahead to stay by taking a feed from Webber and converting a layup 37 seconds into the second quarter to make it 27-26, igniting a 12-2 run that included a pair of 3-pointers by Turkoglu.

"I felt kind of good (tonight)," said Wallace. "I am kind of getting a feel for the game. My shot was looking better and my defense has improved."

The Magic, who were led by Tracy McGrady's 21 points, fought within 45-44 on a short jumper by reigning Rookie of the Year Mike Miller with 2 1/2 minutes to play in the opening half. But the Kings responded with a 10-2 burst.

"I thought we hung in there," Magic coach Doc Rivers said. "They're a difficult basketball team, they really are."

Stojakovic hit a jumper to begin the spurt, Turkoglu added another basket and Christie fed Scot Pollard for a thunderous dunk that gave the Kings a 55-46 lead entering intermission.

Orlando staged one rally after the break, cutting the deficit to 59-56 on McGrady's 3-pointer with 8:15 left in the third quarter. However, the Kings responded with the next six points.

Vlade Divac's two free throws pushed the Sacramento advantage to 63-56.

"We had to try to settle down and really run our stuff," Divac said. "We came out in the third quarter and tried to really run our stuff."

The Kings maintained at least a nine-point lead throughout the final 12 minutes as they won their fourth straight.

Bobby Jackson scored 14 points in 23 minutes off the bench and Mike Bibby dished out a season-high 11 assists for the Kings, who committed 14 turnovers that led to 26 points for the Magic.

"We are winning, and I am happy with the win," said Bibby. "We have a good record right now, and we are going to try to keep it going."

However, Sacramento shot 49.5 percent (45-of-91), including 7-of-16 on 3-pointers, and held a 55-39 edge on the boards.

Miller and Pat Garrity netted 17 points apiece for Orlando, which connected on 44 percent (40-of-91) of its shots and was 11-of-29 from long range.

"They played well," Miller said. "They made shots, and we were struggling there for a little bit, and then we started making shots."
