Game Story

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Without Ray Allen, the other members of the Milwaukee Bucks' "Big Three" stepped up and snapped the San Antonio Spurs' season-high 10-game winning streak with a 101-91 victory.

Sam Cassell scored a season-high 33 points on 13-of-19 shooting and Glenn Robinson was 15-of-26 for 30 to halt a two-game skid for the Bucks, who played their second straight game without the injured Allen.

"We had to get our points from somewhere with Ray out," Cassell said. "Losing 21 or 22 points hurts a team. Someone has to make up those points and it might as well be me. I can score, (Anthony) Mason can score and, as you saw, Robinson can score."

"We didn't have too many problems tonight," Robinson added. "The shot was falling down. We had some good reads and we were able to knock them down."

Michael Redd started in Allen's place and was 6-of-11 for 16 points and six rebounds as Milwaukee became the first Eastern Conference team in 10 tries to beat San Antonio this season. The Bucks shot 54 percent (43-of-79) while limiting the Spurs to 41 percent (34-of-83).

San Antonio took a 73-70 lead into fourth quarter, but Milwaukee scored the first eight points on a jumper and 3-pointer by Redd and a 3-pointer by Tim Thomas.

David Robinson completed a three-point play to make it 78-76 with 9:20 left, but Cassell and Glenn Robinson scored 21 of the final 23 points for the Bucks, who registered their first double-digit lead and closed the scoring on Cassell's 3-pointer with 1:30 left.

San Antonio was paced by Tim Duncan, who had 22 points and 18 rebounds. David Robinson added 21 points, Steve Smith scored 20 and Tony Parker chipped in 16 for the Spurs, who fell to 13-2 at home.

San Antonio made just 6-of-25 3-pointers, while the Bucks were 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Duncan had 15 points to help the Spurs build a 50-47 halftime lead. Smith and David Robinson added 11 apiece.

Milwaukee shot 55 percent (21-38) in the first half and was led by Glenn Robinson, who made 9-of-12 shots for 18 points. Cassell had 12 at halftime.

"I just got some good looks tonight," Cassell said. "Mason freed me up with some screens. I was able to get my rhythm and legs under me, and I just let it fly."

The Bucks have won the last five meetings with the Spurs, who have not defeated Milwaukee at home since March 16, 1998.

"We just play some good games against these guys," Glenn Robinson said.

"Last night, we let a few good opportunities slip through our hands and we tried not to let that happen tonight," Cassell said, referring to a 115-110 loss to Houston. "We brought the intensity and made some shots tonight."

The Bucks won for only the second time in the last eight games against Western Conference foes after a 3-1 start.

"When you lose two straight, you gotta come out there and play that third game," Glenn Robinson said. "We had to treat this as a playoff game. (It) shows the type of character this team has."
