Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- One good quarter by Glenn Robinson was enough for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Robinson scored 16 of his 32 points in the third quarter as the Bucks rallied from an 11-point deficit for a 107-97 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 17 points in the first half as Atlanta led by as many as 11 before taking a 54-49 cushion into the locker room.

A 3-pointer by Robinson with just over five minutes left in the third quarter put Milwaukee ahead for the first time at 70-68. The Bucks carried an 82-75 lead into the final period after a 3-pointer at the buzzer by seldom-used Rafer Alston.

"That was probably the best Rafer has played this season with the exception of the Utah game (on November 17)," Bucks coach George Karl said.

Robinson made 6-of-7 shots in the quarter, including four 3-pointers. He scored 30 points in Sunday's victory at San Antonio.

"We came out, Dog had a big second half and that really seemed to propel us the rest of the way," Karl said.

"He's such a good player," Hawks coach Lon Kruger said. "He went on a streak there that put them in the lead, and we didn't have an answer."

Five straight points by Abdur-Rahim tied it at 90-90 with just over six minutes to play. But Darvin Ham had a pair of thunderous dunks in a 7-0 spurt that gave the Bucks the lead for good at 97-90 with 4:32 left.

Ham scored a season-high 14 points as part of a big effort by the Milwaukee bench. Tim Thomas scored 16 points and Alston finished with 10 as the Bucks' reserves outscored Atlanta's, 44-26.

"Our bench tries to provide the rest of the team with energy," Thomas said. "Tonight you saw what we could do. Last year, I would have thrown those passes in to Darvin and he would have kicked it back out. Now, Darvin is taking ball to the hole with good results."

Milwaukee has won seven straight home games against Atlanta since February 10, 1998.

The Bucks played its third straight game without star guard Ray Allen, who has left knee tendinitis. Michael Redd started for Allen and collected 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

"I knew coming in that I would have a small guard (Jason Terry) on me tonight," Redd said. "So I tried to focus on getting to the glass and getting some rebounds."

Abdur-Rahim had 28 points and 11 rebounds but scored just five points in the fourth quarter and committed six turnovers. Terry chipped in 24 points and six assists.

"We were doing a lot of things to hurt ourselves," Abdur-Rahim said. "I was careless with the ball and that hurt us. I have to do a better job of taking care of the ball."

The Hawks, who have lost three straight on the road, made 21-of-25 foul shots. But after shooting 52 percent in the first quarter, Atlanta cooled off to 42 percent (36-of-85) for the game.

Sam Cassell had 12 points and 11 assists for Milwaukee, which has won four straight at home since a loss to New York on December 4.
