Game StoryORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- After a pair of grueling home losses, the Cleveland Cavaliers were a welcome sight for the Orlando Magic.
Tracy McGrady scored 29 points and Troy Hudson added 12 of his 22 in the fourth quarter as the Magic moved back over the .500 mark with a 106-98 triumph over the Cavaliers.
"I'm tired; this is a good win for us. Get some momentum before the All-Star break," McGrady said. "Now we've got to come out, everybody have fun this weekend (and) come back ready to do business."
Orlando (25-24) heads into the All-Star break just one-half game behind last season's 25-23 mark. The Magic had lost tough home games to the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio but were able to hand the Cavaliers their 11th consecutive road loss.
The Magic closed the first half with a 13-2 run and started the third quarter with a 10-2 burst, taking a 64-46 advantage on a 3-pointer by McGrady with 9:47 left. Cleveland got within 74-70 on Jumaine Jones' basket with 81 seconds to play in the period.
"That was a win," Orlando coach Doc Rivers said. "I didn't think we had a good game, but I thouhgt we were professional enough to win the basketball game."
Orlando's lead was 79-72 before Hudson had 10 points in a 13-0 run that built a 20-point cushion. Hudson made 10-of-18 shots.
"He really hurt us tonight," Cleveland coach John Lucas said. "His play off the bench really killed us. We knew what he was going to do, but he did it anyway."
Darrell Armstrong and Horace Grant each added 14 points for Orlando, which made half of its 86 shots. Armstrong sparked the run at the end of the half with some aggressive play while Grant returned after missing three games due to food poisoning.
"We could have easily folded up, we could have folded up last year," Armstrong said. "But we don't, we keep on fighting."
Wesley Person scored 21 points to lead Cleveland, which has not won away from home since beating Miami on December 21. Lamond Murray had 15 points and 11 rebounds, but the Cavs were unable to overcome 21 turnovers.
Andre Miller handed out 13 assists but made just 5-of-17 shots for 11 points after being saddled with four fouls for the entire second half. Ricky Davis contributed 14 points off the bench.
"It was a game that both teams made big runs," Person said. "Then there was a five- or six-minute stretch where both teams played well. And they made the last run."
Cleveland's 21 turnovers led to 25 points in transition for Orlando. The Magic also were sloppy with 22 turnovers.
Orlando can look forward to the break after a difficult first half that included losing star forward Grant Hill for the season. The Magic feel there is room for improvement.
"We needed the win going into the All-Star break," forward Mike Miller said. "We needed to be over the .500 mark, we need to concentrate. We've got to pick up our intensity, play better defense, execute better on defense."
