Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- It had been more than two years since the Chicago Bulls won three straight games. It was more than four years since they defeated the Golden State Warriors.

Marcus Fizer scored a career-high 30 points as the new-look Bulls ended both droughts with a a 105-91 victory over the Warriors, who have lost six straight games.

It is the Bulls' first three-game winning streak since January 5-8, 2000 and their first win over the Warriors since January 30, 1998, the year of their last championship.

"It's hard to believe that it's been so many years since that happened," Fizer said.

Fizer was helped by newcomers Travis Best, who had 16 points and nine assists, and Jalen Rose, who scored 15 points.

"Jalen Rose can kill you all kinds of ways, either posting up or shooting the jumper," Fizer added. "Travis is the same way with his quickness."

"Fizer played awfully well tonight," Warriors coach Brian Winters said. "We couldn't stop him. He was very aggressive and did what he wanted to do out there."

Rose is averaging more than 24 points in his first three games with the Bulls, who acquired him and Best on Tuesday in a seven-player trade with Indiana.

Rookies Gilbert Arenas and Troy Murphy scored 16 points apiece for Golden State, which also has lost 10 straight on the road since December 22.

"When we played them earlier, they didn't have much energy," said Warriors rookie guard Jason Richardson, who scored 11 points after totaling 35 in Friday's loss at Milwaukee.

"I'm trying to carry off the rest of the season with some energy and play hard," he added.

Golden State led 19-12 with 5:39 remaining in the first quarter, but Chicago responded by scoring 17 of the quarter's last 25 points and never trailed again. Rose scored seven of his points during the spurt.

"Tonight, the other team was keying on me and I was able to get the ball to the (other) guys," Rose said. "Obviously, it's an exciting time to find progress. Now, we have to continue to build on it."

The Warriors closed to 41-39 with 6:40 left in the first half, but Chicago responded again. Fizer sparked an 18-9 run with six points as the Bulls led 59-48 at intermission.

Tyson Chandler scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half.

"Tyson did a great job of protecting us getting back (on defense) and not having to use up our energy early," Chicago coach Bill Cartwright said.

The Bulls took their biggest lead, 99-76, when Fizer took a pass from Rose, who had six assists, and dunked with 4:32 left.

"Marcus Fizer was all over the place tonight and Tyson Chandler had a great game," Rose said. "It was a team effort."
