Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- Red-hot Jason Terry collected 32 points, nine assists and seven rebounds as the Atlanta Hawks posted a season-high point total in a 121-96 rout of the hapless Golden State Warriors.
Terry, averaging 29 points over his last three games, went 13-of-25 from the field to lead Atlanta to its fourth straight win over the Warriors.
"I am just back at home feeling real comfortable. My teammates are looking for me and I have a good grasp of coach’s system right now," Terry said. "I think the key for us is in transition. When we can get easy baskets in transition, we put up a high number of points."
"You have to be ready to play him (Terry) or Shareef (Abdur-Rahim)," said Golden State forward Antawn Jamison. "If you are not ready to play those two guys, and they get going, it’s going to be a long night. Tonight, we weren’t ready to handle them."
Abdur-Rahim contributed 19 points and 13 rebounds and Nazr Mohammed and Jacque Vaughn chipped in 16 points apiece for the Hawks, who avoided their third consecutive loss.
Jamison scored 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Danny Fortson had 14 and 16 as the Warriors lost for the 15th time in 16 road games.
"Give the Hawks some credit," Warriors coach Brian Winters said. "They played very well tonight, and we played very poorly."
Atlanta took control with a 17-4 second-quarter run after Adonal Foyle's jumper pulled Golden State within 44-38 with 6:31 left.
Terry jump-started the run with a basket and totaled seven points and two assists in the burst, including an alley-oop dish to Ira Newble for a thunderous dunk that gave the Hawks a 61-42 lead with 2:08 left.
DerMarr Johnson netted 10 points and Alan Henderson nine for Atlanta, which shot 52 percent (49-of-95) and handed out 29 assists.
"The guards did a great job of pushing the ball," Mohammed said. "They were getting the ball to us when we were open. And they shared the ball extremely well tonight."
Gilbert Arenas and Jason Richardson each scored 12 points for the Warriors, who lost for the fifth time in six games despite a huge edge at the foul line. Golden State visited the line 39 times, hitting 27, while the Hawks went 15-of-18 from the stripe.
Atlanta equaled a season high with 65 points in the first half.
