Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- It's beginning to look like the Milwaukee Bucks haven't played themselves out of the posteason after all.

Sam Cassell scored 24 points, Ray Allen added 23 and Glenn Robinson kicked in 22 as the Bucks moved into the driver's seat with a 105-89 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

"I think we were cheating ourselves the last two months of the season," Allen said. "We have so much basketball left in us. We just need to keep playing the way we are right now."

Milwaukee (41-40), tied for seventh place in the East with Toronto and Indiana, owns the tiebreaker over both teams and is in the playoffs with a victory over Detroit on Wednesday.

"If we play this hard and with this much intensity tomorrow night we'll come away with a win," Cassell said. "We have to go into their gym and earn a 'W'."

"We have one more to go," Bucks coach George Karl said. "There isn't going to be a lot of celebrating tonight."

The Bucks, who have won two in a row after dropping five straight and eight of their last nine, have won seven straight against the Raptors.

"It's amazing, you play 81 games and it comes down to the 82nd game" Raptors coach Lenny Wilkens said. "We have an opportunity tomorrow night (against Cleveland) and we need to be ready."

Anthony Mason chipped in with 18 points for Milwaukee, which shot 54.5 percent (42-of-77) from the field and held a 42-33 rebounding advantage.

The Bucks took command with an 11-0 third-quarter run.

After Keon Clark's tip-in gave the Raptors a 64-59 with 7:35 left, Greg Anthony hit a jumper to get things rolling and Robinson hit a pair of jumpers. Anthony drained a 3-pointer and Mason sank a 13-footer for a 70-64 lead with 4:38 remaining.

"I thought that in the middle of the third quarter we lost it a little bit," Wilkens said.

"Everybody's back is against the wall," Clark said. "We have one more game to prove ourselves. I'd rather be in the heat of battle than not in the battle at all."

Morris Peterson scord 23 points and Clark added 21 for Toronto, which hit all 17 of its free-throw attempts but shot just 41 percent (34-of-83) from the field.

The loss was just the second in Toronto's last 13 games.
