Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Zydrunas Ilgauskas helped Darius Miles get the last laugh. Ilgauskas made a turnaround jumper with 2.8 seconds left and Miles scored 15 points in his debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who posted a 98-96 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Los Angeles dealt Miles to Cleveland for guards Andre Miller and Bryant Stith in the offseason. The 21-year-old forward was upset with the trade but exacted some revenge in his first meeting against his former team. Miles made 5-of-11 shots and collected five rebounds and three assists. But it was the 7-3 Ilgauskas who lifted the team to victory with 19 points and nine rebounds. Los Angeles forged a 96-96 tie when Corey Maggette followed in a bad miss by Michael Olowokandi with seven seconds left. After Cleveland called timeout, Ilgauskas received the inbounds pass on the left side of the lane before stepping back and burying a fadeaway jumper over Olowokandi from just inside the free-throw line. "It always makes you feel good when you hit a shot like that," Ilgauskas said. "You never know until it goes in. I knew when I got the ball I was going to shoot it. There wasn't a lot of time." The shot capped a strong effort from Ilgauskas, who missed Tuesday's season opener while serving a one-game suspension for a drunk driving incident in September. "It was a good win," he said. "We didn't give up, that's the important thing. Last year in these kind of games we just seemed to fold." Olowokandi, who played despite an abdominal injury, had 18 points and 13 rebounds. But he missed two clutch shots in the final 30 seconds and was beaten on Ilgauskas' game-winning shot. "We all know what we're supposed to do," he said. "I don't think (the missed shots) lost the game for us. I was a little bit agitated and not comfortable. Ricky Davis had 25 points, eight assists and seven rebounds and Tyrone Hill added 17 points and 13 rebounds for Cleveland, which snapped a four-game losing streak to Los Angeles. "When the regular season starts with a win, it feels pretty good after all the work we did in training camp," Hill said. "It really does feel good to have (Ilgauskas) back. We need him, he's our go-to guy." Quentin Richardson and Maggette scored 17 points apiece and Miller added 15 and 14 assists in his debut with the Clippers. Los Angeles forward Elton Brand started despite a knee injury but was held scoreless on 0-of-6 shooting in 27 minutes. "Body-wise I felt very good," he said. "I'm just trying to work hard and get into game competition. I'm also looking forward to getting out there and getting good minutes." The Clippers shot 51 percent (38-of-75) from the floor but committed 17 turnovers and were outrebounded, 47-39. "I'm not disappointed in the loss," Los Angeles coach Alvin Gentry said. "I'm disappointed in the way we lost, in the effort plays. We've got to always win with effort plays and we didn't do that tonight." Olowokandi gave Los Angeles its largest fourth-quarter lead at 94-90 on a hook shot with 2:45 to go. But Hill followed in a miss by Ilgauskas 57 seconds later for the seventh tie of the period. Hill made 1-of-2 free throws with 30 seconds to go and, after Olowokandi missed a short jumper, Davis made 1-of-2 from the line for a 96-94 edge at 13 seconds. The Clippers went to Olowokandi again, but the 7-footer did not even hit the rim on a 15-jumper from the baseline. But Maggette caught the ball before it landed and banked in the game-tying shot.
