Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Kobe Bryant did it all. His teammates did some of everything. Bryant had 33 points to lead six players in double figures and added a career-high 15 rebounds and 12 assists as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated Staples Center co-tenants the Los Angeles Clippers, 108-93, for their first victory this season. "I definitely had a lot of motivation to play this game," Bryant said. "This is the style of basketball I want to play all season long - to get my teammates shots (and play) unselfish basketball." Bryant had 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the first quarter as the Lakers opened up a 34-20 lead and cruised thereafter. The Lakers extended their advantage to 56-33 late in the second quarter, and the Clippers got no closer than 74-67 on a pair of free throws by Corey Maggette with four minutes to go in the third period. But Bryant stopped the Clippers' momentum with a pass to a wide-open Brian Shaw, who nailed a 3-pointer with 3:29 to go in the period to complete Bryant's fourth career triple-double. "It was important for me to keep going to them whenever the defense was open," Bryant said. "It was important for me to keep kicking it out to them to show that I believe in them." Devean George had 13 points, Robert Horry and Derek Fisher added 11 each and Samaki Walker and reserve Stanislav Medvedenko 10 apiece for the Lakers, who shot 46 percent (39-of-85) from the field and 89 percent (23-of-26) from the line. The Lakers once again played without Shaquille O'Neal (injured foot) and Rick Fox (league suspension), who are not free to play until next Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. They dropped their first two games for the first time in 12 years. "Kobe really has dedicated this year to helping his teammates out because he knows what was going on with Shaq out," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "He knows he can't do it alone." "Our triangle offense finally looked like our triangle offense," Shaw of the Lakers' offensive scheme, which is run through Bryant. "When (Bryant) gets it going like that, he gets everyone else going." Andre Miller, whom the Clippers acquired in an offseason trade for Darius Miles, had 22 points and 11 assists in the loss. Maggette added 19 points and Elton Brand rebounded from the first scoreless game of his career to contribute 19 and 12 rebounds. "I'd rather have another bad game and win than a better one and lose," Brand said. The Clippers' bench was outscored by the Lakers' second unit, 30-11. "We've got to find a way to get everyone on the same page and start playing together," Clippers coach Alvin Gentry said. "I don't think it's anybody's fault because I think every guy in that locker room wants to win. We just can't seem to get in any kind of rhythm right now." The contest, a home game for the Clippers, was played in front of 20,474, the largest crowd to witness an NBA game in Southern California. "I heard someone say we got the monkey off our back," said Bryant of the Lakers' first victory in their quest to win a fourth straight NBA title. "I sort of like the monkey on our back, especially if it's the Anaheim (Angels') Rally Monkey."
