Game StoryPHOENIX (Ticker) -- Penny Hardaway wasted no time showing he's still a capable starter. Taking the place of struggling second-year guard Joe Johnson, Hardaway scored 16 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Phoenix Suns rallied for a 93-88 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. The former All-Star shot 7-of-13 from the field while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out six assists. "It wasn't a question of thinking that I had to prove a point," said Hardaway, who hit all three of his 3-pointers in the final period. "I just got shots and kept shooting, and thank God they went down for me." "Penny was unbelievable, he ran the team," Suns coach Frank Johnson said. "He did a remarkable job of making sure we got something every time." Shawn Marion paced the Suns with 26 points on 11-of-22 shooting to go with nine rebounds and five assists. The Suns trailed, 75-64, after three quarters, but Hardaway and Marion fueled an 18-3 run to open the fourth and combined for 26 of the team's final 29 points. "We came out with energy from tipoff to the end," Marion said. "Everybody contributed big minutes for us and what more can you ask." Hardaway scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in his only other start when Johnson moved to the point for Stephon Marbury, who was suspended for the season opener. "If I don't start, I'm gonna get in the game," added Hardaway, who came off the bench most of last season. Phoenix rookies Casey Jacobsen and Amare Stoudemire chipped in 11 points apiece. The Hawks had a three-game winning streak snapped as Glenn Robinson struggled for the first time, missing 12 of his last 14 shots and finishing with 15 points. "It was a rough shooting night," Robinson said. "They double- and triple-teamed me a lot. I know my shot isn't gonna fall every game. When the shot is not falling, I just try to get more rebounds, try to do more things on the stat sheets." Robinson grabbed nine rebounds but hit just 1-of-6 from behind the arc. Atlanta was led by Jason Terry, who scored 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting, including four 3-pointers, and dished out eight assists. Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 19 points. Terry hit a 3-pointer midway through the third quarter that sparked a 16-3 run. Atlanta built a 12-point cushion with 1:41 left in the period before Phoenix went on its tear. "They turned up their defense and they took us out of our offense," Terry said. "They took us out of our flow and once they disrupted it, we just couldn't get back into it." The Hawks have lost their last 10 trips to Phoenix, a drought that dates to 1991.
