Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings always have an easy time against the Chicago Bulls at Arco Arena, where they rarely lose to anyone. Doug Christie scored a season-high 22 points and Bobby Jackson added 22 as the Kings remained unbeaten at home with a 111-98 victory over the Bulls. Sacramento is under .500 on the road but has won its first six at Arco Arena, where it has had tremendous success in recent seasons. The Kings are 105-24 at home in the regular season since the 1999-2000 campaign. Sacramento has won its last seven meetings with Chicago, which has not won at Arco Arena since November 23, 1997. Christie and Jackson combined to make 14-of-23 shots, including 5-of-10 free 3-pointers, and 11-of-11 free throws. Sacramento shot 49 percent (41-of-84) and buried eight 3-pointers. "I always try to come out aggressive and attack the basket and get people involved," said Jackson, who had six rebounds and five assists. "We have a great team and we just have to continue to play the way we did tonight. We still have a lot to learn, a lot to improve on." The Kings took the lead for good with a 14-4 run midway through the first quarter. Chris Webber scored four points and Jackson and Peja Stojakovic each buried 3-pointers during the spurt, which gave Sacramento a 23-14 lead with 4:36 to go. The Kings had a 58-50 lead less than two minutes into the second half before scoring 19 of the next 27 points. Jackson scored nine points in the run and Stojakovic capped it with a 3-pointer for a 77-58 cushion at 4:54. Chicago never got closer than 11 thereafter and stumbled to their seventh loss in nine games. "I was disappointed to the extent that I thought we had an opportunity to come in here and play a really good team to kind of test ourselves," Bulls coach Bill Cartwright said. "I didn't feel we got the best effort out of our guys." Webber scored 18 points and Vlade Divac pulled down 10 rebounds as the Kings held an overwhelming 54-35 advantage on the glass. "We have to step up and box out when we rebound," Divac said. "We did a much better job of that tonight. We talk about rebounding among the coaches and players, and we practice what we have to do." Rookie Lonny Baxter scored a season-high 17 points and fellow reserve Jamal Crawford added a season-high 16 for the Bulls, who are winless on the road this season. Eddie Robinson had 15 points and Donyell Marshall collected 12 points and 10 rebounds as Chicago's reserves outscored its starters, 68-30. "I think our second team should've been our first team tonight," Chicago rookie Jay Williams said. "They came out and played with a lot of energy and we came out and just played dull."
