Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Reggie Miller may no longer be the Indiana Pacers' best player. But he's still their best player in the clutch. Miller scored 13 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Pacers extended their winning streak to four games with a 92-87 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Miller was Indiana's best player for most of the past 15 seasons. Despite playing in the twilight of his career, the 37-year-old guard is still taking - and making - the biggest shots of the game for the Pacers. "My role on this team is somewhat different than it has been in years past," he said. "When you're the go to-guy, you try to take more shots. I'm surrounded by a lot of young guys, and for me to come out here and get my shots would go against what we've tried to build here." Miller is averaging under 10 shots per game for the first time since he was a rookie during the 1987-88 campaign. Los Angeles had an 85-82 lead after Sean Rooks' dunk with 2:34 remaining. But Indiana's Ron Artest followed with a jump shot and Miller buried a turnaround jumper for an 86-85 lead with 1:09 to go. "We try to get the guys involved because it was a close game," Miller said. "Then you hopefully try to get in some type of rhythm and take the game over." Miller sank another jumper with 37 seconds left. After Clippers guard Eric Piatkowski made a basket, Miller buried a pair of free throws with 10 seconds to play. Kenyon Dooling missed a jumper with four seconds to go as Los Angeles lost for the eighth time in 11 games. "We've got to find a way to get the ball in the basket," Clippers coach Alvin Gentry said. "Down the stretch, we didn't make shots and they did." Ron Mercer made two free throws with one second left and finished with 20 points for Indiana, which has won 13 of its last 14 games. Artest had 13 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Pacers, who shots just 39 percent (33-of-85) from the field but held the injury-plagued Clippers to 36 percent (27-of-76). "I told the team before the game it's not going to be pretty all the time offensively," Indiana coach Isiah Thomas said. "We need to concentrate and win games. At the end of the game I feel we can get stops. That is what carries us." Los Angeles placed center Michael Olowokandi on the injured list prior to the game but got a season-high 25 points from rookie guard Marko Jaric. Elton Brand had 20 and 12 rebounds and Quentin Richardson scored 12 points for Los Angeles, which has lost 16 of the last 18 meetings with Indiana. "I thought we played good basketball," Piatkowski said. "It came down to one or two possessions. We were right there at the end of the game and they won." The Pacers led the entire first half after scoring the game's first seven points. Austin Croshere scored all eight of his points in the second quarter as Indiana took a 43-37 halftime lead. Jaric scored 11 points in the third quarter, when the teams exchanged the lead six times. Mercer capped the period with a driving layup to give the Pacers a 64-63 edge. Los Angeles opened the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run and took its largest lead at 73-66 on a pair of free throws by Brand at the 6:41 mark. Indiana's Brad Miller responded with a three-point play and Mercer made consecutive baskets before Reggie Miller drained a 3-pointer for a 76-75 lead with 4:51 left.
