Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- The "Big Dog" can bark a bit louder at Ray Allen - if he chooses to. Glenn Robinson led a balanced attack with 23 points as the Atlanta Hawks pulled away from Allen and the Milwaukee Bucks in a 98-80 victory. "It was a great feeling to win," Robinson said. "I wanted it bad. We came out and we were loose and we played our game." Robinson was traded to Atlanta last summer after spending his first eight seasons in Milwaukee. He spent the offseason trading insults with Allen, who incited the war of words with comments that Robinson was selfish. Robinson called Allen a coward. But the duo talked to each other before the contest to settle their differences, and there were no conflicts during the game. "I tried to explain to him what transpired and what exactly I was saying and when I said it," Allen said. "He didn't have much to say. He pretty much just listened to me. I think in his mind he thought that I just attacked him, and he wanted to know exactly where it came from and why. But I talked to him, and we have an understanding." Robinson engaged in some light-hearted trash talk with Sam Cassell, with whom he formed the Bucks' "Big Three" with Allen. "There was a little, but it was in good fun," Robinson said. "Sam was telling me my bark was loud, but my bite wasn't vicious." Jason Terry contributed 19 points and 12 assists and Theo Ratliff had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Hawks, who shot 51 percent (39-of-77) and had all five starters score in double figures. "It was a big win, a good win," Hawks coach Lon Kruger said. "Some of the guys played well, and that makes it even that much more gratifying. JT really took charge at the point. He took care of the ball and was aggressive still offensively. Theo, I thought, was terrific. Defensively, he rebounded the ball, and helped finish some plays (on offense)." Tim Thomas scored 17 points and Allen 16 in his first game since coming off the injured list for Milwaukee, which has five of seven and fell to 2-8 on the road. Cassell scored 13 points in 31 minutes after injuring his right hip in the first half. Cassell and Allen were a combined 3-of-13 in the second half, totaling just eight points. "I'm living," Cassell said. "It slowed me down tonight. We'll see how it feels tomorrow." "(We) just got up on them and made it hard for them to get in their comfort zone," Terry said. "We realized their strengths and took their strengths away." Milwaukee led 67-63 after a layup by Anthony Mason with 5:29 left in the third quarter. But the Hawks countered with an 18-2 run that was capped by a jumper by Terry 69 seconds into the fourth quarter. They cruised thereafter. Atlanta had lost 10 of the previous 12 meetings with Milwaukee and six of eight overall. "It was weird," Allen said. "I played six years with Glenn. He made shots for their team. I know Glenn like the back of my hand, just like he knows my game. And it's still impossible to stop him. He's going to score 20 points a night because he's one of the best scorers in the league." "Glenn is a great scorer, but I think we can be a good offensive team if we move the ball," Bucks coach George Karl said. "Tonight, the probing and the dribbling and the lack of passing in the second half slowed us down, and we never got any of our horses in the game." Despite shooting 53 percent in the first half, the Bucks trailed at the break, 55-52. But Milwaukee was limited to 29 percent in the second half (10-of-35) and scored just 28 points. "I thought our guys did a good job communicating defensively," Kruger said. "They just concentrated on defense and in contesting shots. It was better from middle of the third quarter on."
