Game StoryPORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- Bonzi Wells scored a season-high 30 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to their fifth win in seven games, 102-93 over the New Orleans Hornets. "Coach (Maurice Cheeks) has been getting on me to score more points consistently at home," Wells said. "He wants me to take it to the hole and create more plays and give our team a chance to take the lead early in the game. "Coach challenged me before the game to get some points tonight and I just went out and tried to do it." Wells shot a made a career-high 11 field goals in 19 attempts, but the win was not enough to cheer up Portland's Scottie Pippen, even on the night he moved past Dave Bing into 45th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list. "You want to win and stay at the top and unfortunately we've been going the other way," Pippen said. "It is disappointing for me to come here and the salary that I'm making and giving the fans the type of ball we've been giving them the last few years. It is disappointing because they expect more." The Trail Blazers moved to 12-11, tying the Utah Jazz for eighth place in the Western Conference. Portland played at home for the first time since December 6 and is in the middle of a stretch during which it plays 12 of 15 games on the road. The Hornets are on a season-long seven-game road trip that has taken a sour turn after a good start. New Orleans kicked off its trip with victories against Utah and the Los Angeles Lakers but dropped Sunday's game at Sacramento before losing for the 11th time in 15 trips to Portland. "We didn't play worth a damn tonight," Hornets coach Paul Silas said. "This is all the hell there is to it. I give them credit because they came with it, they played and they won the game, but I just don't like what I see right now from us." Rasheed Wallace collected 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Blazers, who led by as many as 16 points. Wallace's shot with 8:27 left in the third quarter put Portland ahead to stay, 60-59. Before the Blazers assumed control of the game, it was a see-saw affair, with 10 lead changes and 16 ties. Jamal Mashburn led the Hornets with 22 points and eight rebounds. Portland outrebounded New Orleans, 45-32, and improved to 11-2 when beating its opponent off the glass.
