Game StoryCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Rookie Caron Butler had his last-second shot fall short and the Miami Heat had their three-game winning streak snapped by the Cleveland Cavaliers, 74-72. Butler tried to force overtime with a baseline jumper after Miami was unable to get the ball to Eddie Jones on an inbounds pass with 2.8 seconds to play. "All I'm going to say (is), you all saw it," Jones said. "I was supposed to get the ball, take my man, and if I have the shot, take the shot. If I had the drive, then take the drive and try my best to get to the rim. I thought I got (open)." Jones was the only Heat player to make a field goal in the fourth quarter and scored 10 of his 18 points in the final period. "I don't think we played the game well at all," Miami coach Pat Riley said. "But we had three or four good shots at the end. We didn't get them to go down." Ricky Davis scored 32 points to lead the Cavaliers but was not a factor in their closing 11-2 run. He had just two points in the fourth quarter, leaving the late scoring to rookie Smush Parker, who netted five points during the run. "We finally got a reward from our hard work and our effort," Cleveland coach John Lucas said. "That was very, very good for us because we have been playing very well. We had the potential to be 4-0 this week, but we'll take what we can get because we're an improving team." Cleveland had two chances to take a three-point lead in the final 10 seconds, but Zydrunas Ilgauskas missed a jumper and Tyrone Hill made just 1-of-2 free throws, providing Miami with an opportunity to tie it from inside the arc. Ilgauskas, who made 3-of-11 shots in Cleveland's 85-79 loss at Miami on November 30, scored 11 points on 4-of-16 shooting in this one. He added 10 rebounds as the Cavs stopped a four-game losing streak. "It feels good before Christmas," said Cavs forward Jumaine Jones, who got a piece of Butler's late shot but was not credited with a block. "We had to figure out a way that we could get a win in the fourth quarter." Brian Grant scored a season-high 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the Heat. Cleveland's Dajuan Wagner sat out with the flu, but fellow rookie Carlos Boozer played through flu-like symptoms and collected two points and six rebounds in 21 minutes.
