Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Michael Redd scored 10 of his 12 points during a decisive fourth quarter in which the Milwaukee Bucks held the Detroit Pistons scoreless for more than seven minutes en route to a 96-86 victory. After Richard Hamilton's jumper with 10:23 left in the final period gave the Pistons a 76-71 lead, Milwaukee reeled off 16 straight points and took an 87-76 advantage on Sam Cassell's bucket with 3:25 to go. Ben Wallace ended the Pistons' drought at the 3:08 mark with a free throw, but it was too late to save the Pistons' six-game winning streak. Detroit did not make a basket until Hamilton sank a 20-footer with 1:57 remaining. "Our 'D' was the difference, that's the best we've played our zone all year," Redd said. Tim Thomas scored 21 points, Cassell finished with 16 and Ray Allen added 14 for the Bucks, who have won three straight and five of their last six games. Hamilton scored 28 points and Chauncey Billups had 17 for the Pistons. "In the fourth quarter they seemed to be trapping everywhere, not just one or two people, but everyone," Hamilton said. The game was close throughout. The Bucks held a 51-49 halftime edge, but after three quarters they were all even at 71-71. After the Pistons scored the first five points of the fourth, Redd and Kevin Ollie took over. The hustling Ollie scored four points in the burst, including a jumper with 10 minutes left to ignite the spurt, and had a hand in virtually every bucket. "Every possession counts in this league," Ollie said. "I try to step on the floor and play smooth and under control. I appreciate (Bucks coach George Karl) having confidence to play me in the fourth." Detroit, which shot 39 percent (30-of-76) from the field and committed just 10 turnovers, missed eight straight shots and lost the ball three times during the Bucks' decisive run. "We hit a drought where we missed shots and made turnovers," Detroit coach Rick Carlisle said. "They shot the ball relatively well, and that was probably the difference in the game." Anthony Mason netted 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Bucks, who shot 46 percent (33-of-72) from the field. They also improved to 5-2 on their eight-game homestand, which ends against Memphis on Sunday. "We are starting to play well at home. I have a good feeling about this team," said Thomas, who was 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. "You can see the guys getting into it,the crowd getting into it, and the coaches. We need to keep this momentum going." Milwaukee has not played on the road since January 27. Mehmet Okur scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Clifford Robinson had 10 points, eight assists and six rebounds for the Pistons.
