Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Eddy Curry scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Tyson Chandler added 23 and 14 as the Chicago Bulls ended the Golden State Warriors' six-game winning streak with a 119-105 triumph. Jalen Rose contributed 21 points for the Bulls, including a bucket with 9:50 left in the third quarter that ignited a 17-6 burst. Former Warrior Donyell Marshall's layup with 6:06 left ended the run and gave Chicago a 74-59 advantage. "When Eddy plays aggressively like he did tonight on the offensive and defensive boards, it really helps me out, it opens up a lot of things for me," Chandler said. "This was fun. I think we definitely needed his as a team," Curry added. "Our teammates did a good job of feeding us the ball." This was the first time Curry and Chandler both scored at least 20 points in the same game. Gilbert Arenas scored 29 points and Antawn Jamison chipped in 22 for Golden State (30-31), which was trying to go over the .500 mark for the first time since winning its season opener. The Warriors also were thwarted in a bid for their first seven-game winning streak since an eight-game run from April 9-23, 1994. "This is a game we should have had on the road," said Warriors coach Eric Musselman, whose team fell three games behind Phoenix for the final Western Conference playoff berth. "We just couldn't get anything going tonight. This one, we didn't play good." Curry scored 19 points in the first half as the Bulls never trailed, leading by as many as 10 in the opening quarter before settling for a 52-47 halftime lead. After Arenas' 3-pointer 70 seconds into the third quarter cut Golden State's deficit to 57-53, Rose made a driving layup and Marshall canned a 3-pointer for a 62-53 advantage. The Warriors got no closer than eight points the rest of the way. Jamal Crawford collected 15 points and 10 assists while Marshall, who spent 5 1/2 seasons with Golden State, netted 14 points as the Bulls enjoyed their best offensive night of the season. Rookie Jay Williams added nine points, three rebounds and three assists in 17 minutes for Chicago, which shot 54 percent (47-of-87) from the field and held a 47-36 rebounding advantage. Troy Murphy had 13 points and nine boards and Chris Mills chipped in 11 points as the Warriors shot 45.5 percent (40-of-88).
