Game StoryPORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- With Scottie Pippen sidelined, Damon Stoudamire got his chance to prove he could still run the offense. Stoudamire scored a season-high 20 points and Derek Anderson added 18 as the Portland Trail Blazers rolled to a 125-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Stoudamire has been with Portland since 1998 but is not a favorite of new coach Maurice Cheeks and was averaging a career-low 18.6 minutes per game. Pippen has taken over point guard duties this season but was sidelined with a left knee injury, giving Stoudamire just his 10th start of the season against his former team. "Scottie has set the tone all season long and I just tried to come out and keep everybody involved," he said. "Basically I go out and try to do what he does, dictate the tempo, try to pick and choose my shots." "Damon's been the first guard off the bench the last few games," Cheeks said. "When I found out Scottie wasn't playing it was a no brainer for me to put Damon in the starting lineup. It was a easy decision for me. I knew he would start out right away giving us energy, because that's what he does. He has the ability to make shots, and anytime you have a guy who can make shots, it makes your offense run." The eight-year veteran made 8-of-10 shots from floor and collected seven assists and seven rebounds in 36 minutes. "I know that's what I'm capable of," he said. "Right now it's just not asked of me. I've got to play my role. It was a chance for me tonight to capitalize on Scottie not dressing and I just tried to do that. Obviously, it's not going to make me start the next game, but I think that now the coaching staff might be comfortable if he sits out a game. It felt good to go out and play and not look over my shoulder." "He was great," Anderson said. "Damon played well tonight. He did a great job at both ends. I think that's the key with him, get him involved on the offensive end and letting him do his thing because when he runs the show we all follow. He's been doing it for years and it was good to see him back out." Zach Randolph scored 15 points and Ruben Patterson added 14 for Portland, which had six players in double figures and matched its highest point total of the season. Stoudamire scored nine points in a back-and-forth first quarter, but the Blazers dominated the second and third periods. Portland made 30-of-39 shots from the floor in the middle quarters and outscored Toronto, 69-36. "That was a disgrace," Raptors coach Lenny Wilkins said. "The defensive effort for the first three quarters was just ... we can't play that way. The attitude better change because we can't finish the season that way." Randolph had eight points and Rasheed Wallace added seven of his 13 in the second quarter as the Blazers made 17-of-22 shots to build a 65-47 halftime advantage. Stoudamire and Anderson each scored nine in the third quarter, when Portland made 13-of-17 shots from the floor. The Blazers carried a 97-63 cushion into the final period. Randolph made 6-of-8 shots, Patterson made all four of his shots and Wallace was 6-of-10 as Portland shot 64 percent (50-of-78) overall and made 9-of-15 3-pointers. Arvydas Sabonis scored 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting for the Blazers, who scored 60 points in the paint and outscored the Raptors, 21-9, on the fast break. Vince Carter scored 21 points and Voshon Lenard added 18 for Toronto, which has lost three straight games, including the first two of a five-game road trip. "The teams understand that we can't keep talking about getting better," Carter said. "We've got to do something about it. We just got to get it going. Just when you think we've played our worst and embarrassed ourselves enough, we do it again." Michael Bradley scored 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Raptors shot 52 percent (44-of-85) from the floor.
