Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- Ira Newble didn't need his lucky rubber band. Newble ran out of his lucky charms but scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 100-84 rout of the Orlando Magic. Newble, who wears a rubber band around his wrist to remind him of the work he put in to get to the NBA, shot 8-of-16 from the field and had 10 rebounds to come within two of another career best. "I ran out a week ago," Newble said. "I needed some more and I didn't have any more. It's the end of the season." "Ira's been playing well," Atlanta coach Terry Stotts added. "I think the whole group's been meshing well. It's been very good ball movement and Ira's been taking advantage of that." Atlanta has won four consecutive games nearing the end of another disappointing season. The Magic (42-39) had a three-game winning streak snapped and must beat the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday to earn the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. "We wanted to secure the seventh spot," Orlando rookie Drew Gooden said. "If we would have won this game, and then in Milwaukee, we would have secured that spot. We're in the playoffs. I think we kind of banked on that, but that's no excuse not to play." Tracy McGrady scored 22 points on 6-of-18 shooting before sitting out the fourth quarter for Orlando. Gooden added 15 points off the bench but was the only other Magic player in double figures. "Although you want to win every game, you want to remain healthy," McGrady said of sitting down the stretch. "I just take pride in taking the team to the playoffs. However, I have to get it done, I would do that. I feel like I could put up 35 a night. I think I'm capable of that. If I stay locked in, I'm capable of 15 a quarter." Jason Terry joined Newble with 23 points for Atlanta. The Hawks, who are refunding each season ticket holder $125 after missing the playoffs, wrapped up their home slate with a 26-15 mark. Theo Ratliff, who had six blocked shots, all but wrapped up the NBA crown in that category. He also collected seven rebounds. "It's a refreshing feeling to be back with my rightful position, to come back and re-establish myself in the league and let everybody know nothing's changed with me," said Ratliff, who has played in 79 games this year after an appearing in just three last season. "I'm still helping my teammates." Ratliff shot 1-of-7, but the defensive specialist's numbers were not indicative of Atlanta's performance. The Hawks shot 49 percent (36-of-73) from the field, and made 6-of-12 attempts from 3-point range. Pat Garrity added eight points for Orlando, which shot 31 percent (27-of-86).
