Game StoryOAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons' overtime dominance has not continued this season. Calbert Cheaney scored four of his season-high 24 points in overtime and Erick Dampier had 12 points and 14 rebounds as the Golden State Warriors posted an 87-85 victory over the Pistons. Detroit set an NBA record by going unbeaten in eight overtime games during the 2002-03 season. The Pistons also won two postseason games in overtime but had their 10-game run ended with their first overtime loss since April 17, 2001. Neither team scored in overtime until Nick Van Exel made 1-of-2 free throws with 3:01 left. Cheaney buried a runner with 1:44 to go for an 91-78 edge. The teams traded baskets before Detroit's Chauncey Billups made a pair of free throws, but Cheaney made a baseline jumper to give Golden State an 85-82 edge with 19 seconds left. "I had the right side to work with," Cheaney said. "I'm not saying it was easy, but I was able to go up and shoot without much contest. I was able to get the shot off before (the help) got over there." After Detroit's Richard Hamilton threw an errant pass into the stands, Mike Dunleavy, Jr. sank 1-of-2 from the line. Billups sank a long 3-pointer from the top of the circle for the Pistons, but Van Exel made 1-of-2 free throws with 4.5 seconds to play. Tayshaun Prince got the inbounds pass for the Pistons and dribbled past halfcourt but did not get off his 3-pointer before time expired. Detroit made just 2-of-8 shots in overtime. "We couldn't figure a way to get it into the basket," Pistons coach Larry Brown said. "Sometimes you have to be more aggressive." Brian Cardinal scored 13 points and Dunleavy 10 for Golden State, which improved to a 3-1 on a five-game homestand. "It's a very big lift," Cheaney said. "We've got a very good basketball team. Hopefully guys will start to realize that. We've just got to keep plugging away." Billups scored 19 points and Hamilton added 17 for the Pistons, who lost their second straight following a six-game winning streak. Detroit All-Star center Ben Wallace started despite an ankle injury and collected nine points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. "We just did not play well," Wallace said. "We didn't compete, we just picked our spots. We have been struggling against the West the last couple of years."
