Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- After Corey Maggette put the Los Angeles Clippers ahead, he shouldered the challenge on defense. Maggette made a pair of go-ahead free throws with 64 seconds to go and helped keep Tracy McGrady in check as the Clippers hung on for their fourth straight win, a 95-92 triumph over the reeling Orlando Magic. Maggette leapt high to grab an offensive rebound off a miss by Quentin Richardson and was fouled. His two free throws provided a 92-91 edge. Orlando tried to go to McGrady, who poured in an NBA season-high 51 points in Friday's loss at Denver. But Maggette's harassing presence forced the superstar to give up the ball on the next two possessions, resulting in misses by rookie Keith Bogans with 44 seconds left and Drew Gooden 32 seconds later. "We knew he was the guy that was going to take all the shots and be the focal point," Maggette said. "If we wanted to win, we had to lock down and play hard, too." Chris Wilcox made a pair at the line for a 94-91 advantage with nine seconds to go, and the Clippers fouled Tyronn Lue, who made his first attempt. Lue missed the second and Gooden got his hand on a tip attempt before the loose ball came to Richardson, who was fouled and made 1-of-2 with three seconds remaining, sending Orlando to its ninth straight loss. Orlando's skid is its longest since a franchise-record 17-game slide from December 4-January 7, 1992. The Magic rallied for an overtime win at New York in the season opener and have not prevailed since. "We should've had those guys down by 20 to 25 points," McGrady said. "We just gave them confidence and they got back in the game and took the lead." Richardson fell one point shy of his career high with 31, exploiting Bogans down low. His free throw was his only point of the fourth quarter. "I was getting a lot of easy baskets (early)," Richardson said. "I didn't know it was his (Bogans') first start." Maggette, a rookie with Orlando in 1999, helped limit McGrady to six points on 3-of-9 shooting over the final three quarters. McGrady finished with six assists. "It's tough, especially when you've got a guy like Corey," McGrady said. "He's really tough. And if you get by him, you have other guys to deal with." Maggette also was effective on offense, chipping in 17 points. Reserve Marko Jaric netted a season-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, relegating starter Keyon Dooling to the bench after the first quarter.
